Who of you EDC's a GEC large jack?

I have a 54 tortoise shell moose in my jeans pocket right now. Its not really all that big, and its hardly noticeable in the bottom of the pocket. The pull is not bad at all. It opens easy enough but does have a pretty good snap though.

I carry a 54 whittler a lot. If you can handle a large case stockman in the pocket, any of the 54's should be fine. I do use a slip for it though, to keep it from falling down sideways in my pocket.

I EDC a 53 Large Pen...TK Cuban single spring. No problems at all, no pocket slip needed to distribute the weight even with dress slacks.

If you're worried about a heavy pull, I don't know if the 54 is the one you're looking for.... mine are almost nail breakers. I don't have the 23, but I have a 73 and a couple of 36's which are notorious nail busters. The 54 is a bit lighter than those, but still pretty stiff. The Northwoods version 'forest jack' has a heavier pull than the standard 54's because it uses thicker blade stock. However, on the wharncliffe version, it's pinchable.

Personally, I prefer to carry larger knives and I carry them in my pocket as opposed to a belt sheath.

This design is one of my favorites. I EDC the lava one sometimes.

ok, you guys convinced me. i'm getting one. these days i use a belt bag anyway and i often EDC a spyderco titanium military. so along with a big jack, boy, that's a lot of knife steel for daily carry (i commute or ride a bike, and i wear the belt bag around in the office.) i find i have to take out a blade often at work so a slippie is called for. the big jack is going to be opened quite often. thanks gents!

I carry my grandad S&M barlow many days. Usually with a few others!

I frequently carry a 23 two blade, and a grandad barlow.

I like big knives. Big jacks as well!

pulled the trigger just now. and now the wait. :D

Which one did you choose? I'm sure you'll love it! Can't go wrong with a GEC. Hope it's not coming from back east....

Bigfattyt - you should check out the S&M Large Coke Bottle... I think I know where there's one available if you have trouble tracking one down. It's even longer than the Grandad Barlow. The #05 is pretty huge too if you like Sheepfoot blades. These are my favorite S&M's at least.

i chose the tidioute with dark maroon micarta inserts. i'm usually a jigged bone guy but i like the appearance and durability of micarta.

it's not really that big. here it's shown with the knife it will bump off my belt bag. it's very light (due to the micarta?) i just noticed one thing though: both blades snap hard on opening but a bit mushy on closing. am oiling the joints right now.

non-knife friends, even those sympathetic to my hobby are now saying i'm carrying somewhat too much knife steel on a daily basis. what do they know, huh?

Yea, it's big, but not big!

Since I carried moderns for such a long time, traditionals are small by comparison just in general. I'm used to carrying the equivalent of these Schatt & Morgans. In that light, the Big Jack isn't all that big, but it is a nice heavy duty folder!

Hey hank! How are you liking your big jack now that you've had it a while? I'm considering the maroon micarta right now myself.
