The gear that turns you into a "Beast of Burden", or you can hire Bob to carry it for you.
Basically a pack, ruck or bag that carries the chosen gear to get you through an emergency. Typically people make their kit up so it will last a minimum of 72 hours and contains the basic needs that will help you to stay alive and get back home or wherever. Choose your gear according to your abilities and expand on your knowledge and skill levels prior to the emergency or whatever.
The kit will need to cover shelter (including but not limited to cordage, fire making and clothing), water purification, water carry (nalgene bottle, canteen, etc.), first aid (including personal and OTC medications), orientation (maps, compass, etc.), a good knife, rescue (whistle, signal mirror, reflective/surveyors tape, pad & pen), high energy food, flashlight, cooking pot (stainless cup, kettle, canteen cup, etc.) and whatever else you feel you will need. It's not a kit that you'll want to have a lot of weight in. My heaviest ruck is right at 25# + water. Some include a firearm for protection and it's a good idea to include a fishing kit, snare kit and have the ability to fabricate primitive weapons and tools in the field, just in case you are not able to carry them with you for any reason.
