Who reached their final state of knife evolution?

I started out collecting a few various Buck knives. Someone needs to send me one of those Buses, Crk, srk, or seblenza ones so's I can evolve. :D

Hey man, to each his own. Maybe you're happy colleciting Zorro knives for 1920s. No one is saying any one knife is better, the real question is:
Are you so satisified with your knife buying/collecting that you see yourself in the same habits years from now. (or at least two years) (or maybe less.
 )

When I was little I started out with SAKs and slip joints. A thick old Wegner my Grandpa gave me was it for a long time. Then came the EZ-Out and then it was all one-handers. A few years ago I started going more traditional, back to SAKs and slippies. Now I'm just trying to whittle down my knives to things I'll actually use. I'm shooting for practical instead of tactical and knives that represent a good value.

I was lucky in a sense. Was out of knives for 20 yrs or so getting my gun collection together. When that was where I wanted it I asked about a good knife on the 1911 forum. Got a CRKT folder first, then another forumite turned me on to Swamp Rat. My first, a Howling Rat became my favorite, even after getting more Rats. The CRKT left very quickly. From SRKW, naturally came Busse. Boy, did that get expensive in a hurry! I bought a bunch of Busse's, but it was not till about a year later till I got the PERFECT Busse for me. It fit my hand like a glove and was small enough to carry EDC (I have a CCW). Now, a lot of the safe queens have left and I don't buy to collect anymore. At 56 what's the point?

I'm still a dedicated Busse and Swamp Rat fan, but now only buy what I'll actually use. I also own a Sebenza which is my only folder. It gets used also. At my age, scratching up a $400 knife doesn't bother me in the least and I have a Busse and the Sebbie on my belt all the time.

What's a CCW?

I think the funnel is starting to narrow , I'm a lot more descriminating . With certain classes of knife I've reached a conclusion .

To me the best pure cutters that I've found are Phill Hartsfield's blades. They also appeal to me design wise. As far as folders I love my Sebenzas, WH ZDP-189, and SnG. But I just got a used German army Victorinox, and I've got a Schatt & Morgan on order, so I guess I'm still growing. Next thing you know I'll probably get an Art folder!

well i'm pretty satisfied with my edc (busse public defender) but it took a long, long time to come across.

what i'm trying to find now is the perfect do it all survival knife which is my real passion. i've tried a cs trailmaster, tops anaconda, strider pab, fehrman hoodhunter 10, and busse mofo/mojo and bm-e.

despite all these i'm still looking and more importantly waiting on the fusion bm :D cross your fingers

I have reached the astral plane, that location known as Nirvana, the be all and end all of knives!!! I also dream a WHOLE lot. :D ;) ;) . As far as direction is concerned,I've been going strong for the past18 to 20 years after large folders. These finally turned into the genre known as Tactical Folders about 15 years ago. So I do know my direction. My problem is being satisfied with the knife and looking around the corner for the next great tactical folder. I have done very well in the past couple of years as the knives I seem to be picking up now are knives I've already experienced in the past. As far as framelocks are concerned, I think I can truly say that I've found the "one". (this would be the Extreme models from Rick Hinderer) I just tonight made a deal for a brand new, #24 of 25 made, Kit Carson E&E folder. Funny thing is I had one a couple years ago and thought it was fantatsic.....sometimes it takes me having the knife, selling the knife, to realize I should have kept the knife! :D :D :D

Oh, here's a picture of that E&E

Oh, I BELIEVE it exists for each of us. It's called "the next knife purchase". Seriously, human beings are all about liking what you don't have, and you have to expect that. You could marry the most beautiful woman on Earth, and within a month you'd be looking at other women.

If this is the case then you fail to see the true beauty Grasshopper. You can not find contentment in others it grows from within. The need you describe is a void within yourself Grasshopper. It can not be satiated with a thousand beautiful women.

That's just the way we are. You've probably found a knife that was "The One" for you but now is nolonger. That's the way it is probably always going to be.

Perfection exists only in the mind Grasshopper. It is a state we all must try to achieve but ultimately never are successfull.

That's why screaming Sebenza fans often go and buy a Lochsa, for the "fix".

In order to fill the void we must create. And in creation we must always strive to grow and improve, always seeking perfection. This is the true path to enlightenment.

I just buy knives I like :)
Right now my faves are affordable customs. A lot of makers have knives in the same range as the high end production blades, and I like trying them out.

The habit seems to have ramped up as far as collecting goes. High, medium and low end customs. Factory knives.

I have sub-collections of 3-blade Stockman slip-joints(12), Khukuris(8) and Japanese style Martial Arts Swords(9).

I devote approximately 4-6 hours of every day to some form of worship in this hobby. Color me lifer.

CCW= Concealed Carry Weapons. I can pretty much carry what I want except for ballistic knives, full auto weapons and I think, sword canes. Marion Hammer (NRA) helped write our CCW statutes, so they are pretty sane. Unlike some states which ok firearms and disallow knives.

I guess it's a primal thing. A City cop who pulled me over was completly nonplussed about the custom 1911 I had on (they all carry 1911's), but totally freaked out about the knife on the other side of the belt. Go figure!?
