Who Remembers These?

Anyway I could get you to sell me one?

My dad had one when I was younger, like 12. He let me have it. I ended up losing it like a moron. Now I can't find them anywhere.
They are easily available on ebay. Search "Trim Trio".

"The bay" has several listed at most times. I haven't looked at condition or prices in a good while, but you can usually find some on there.

I have no clue where they're at.
I had a big jar full of random keychains that my dad gave me when I was a kid and they're in that jar which I think is packed away in the shed somewhere.

I think Bassett quit making the Trim Trio in 1995. That’s the most recent date I have on any one in my collection. If anyone has a later date, please advise.

I just purchased a 1999 Trim Trio from eBay. This is the most recent one I have found. Any ideas on when Bassett stopped producing the Trim Trio?

My dad used to bring them home years ago. I bet there's one in a box somewhere in the garage.

I am preparing a Maximum Minimalist EDC for my 12 year old nephew. I am including a Trim Trio, 4 way screwdriver, Quattro, small pen, micro light and a P-38 can opener. The P-38 is included because he’s a WWII buff. All of these items fit in a pill bottle. Any suggestions for additional items?

Victorinox classic? Half a dozen strike anywhere matches?

You're a cool uncle. 👍

I have already given my nephew a Swisschamp and a Small Tinker. The Trim Trio is what I carried as a child. As for matches, his mom doesn’t like fire items or else I would include a mini Bic lighter.

Maybe a safety whistle?

Maybe substitute a golf pencil for the pen. The pencil writes on almost anything, doesn't dry up or freeze up, and the graphite can be scraped off with the knife blade for powdered graphite which a great dry lubricant for a wide rang of things from door locks and padlocks to fishing reel gears.

Once again you’re a sage voice. I thought you might appreciate the maximum minimalism. All of these things will fit in a pill bottle. I will definitely look into getting a golf pencil for him.

Yes, even at this old age, I still am very greatly into the Maximum minimalism. It seems the older I get, the more I appreciate how little I actually need, and how much I can get done with little. Or how little I want to be bothered by 'things'. You're doing your nephew a great service by the minimalistic kit. I wish I had learned all that before I became a knife nut/gun nut/motorcycle nut, and thought I needed all the latest whatever the knife/gun/motorcycle magazines were touting as the best thing since the invention of fire.

In honor of Carl’s Maximum Minimalism credo, I am working on an Ultra Maximum Minimalism for myself. I have a single blade/bottle opener Trim knife and a 4 way screwdriver on a ball chain. I think this is as minimal as I can handle. My other option would be just an SAK Midnight Manager. I welcome any suggestions as to Ultra Maximum Minimalism.

Well, the midnight manager will give you a small light, so you can leave the dedicated little flashlight home. I've toyed with that idea, but haven't made that leap. It's an argument of lumina and hours of output vs size and weight, and I'm sooo used to the Fenix. Using the little Victorinox Quattro in place of the Sear's 4-way will reduce size a bit, and it has better formed flat Phillips bits.

There is a lower limit that gets kind of insane, but I haven't gone into that deep end. Yet. 🤨

Maybe someday.
