The Hurak is such a terrific all - rounder. It's a wonderful purpose - built fighter that just happens to to be perfectly functional at any given task, and is probably as much knife as I really need most of the time. I also think of it as my little big knife.

Jon you would be terrified in any room at night

Only kidding buddy :)

Honest they won't hurt ya

Joe, love your trophy room pics, but I think you know that. People don't realize the time and extreme effort it takes to hunt.

I know you do buddy :)

That's a lifetime of PA deer with a bow

Impressive as all get out to. We do get deer that size around here but few and far between compared to many other more desirable states to hunt White Tail. Most that I've seen on the wall down here that compare to yours are usually taken in a fence.... Bagging 1 of those trophies you have on that wall would be enough for most, for a lifetime.

I don't want to smear anything on this thread with my own story but I have to tell this because it just happened this past weekend.

So, I've never been much of a deer hunter, a few times over the last 10 years or so, never bagged a deer, never really put in a good enough effort.... Until this year. Been spending most of my time on the ground trying to spot and stalk with my Bow and sitting in ground blinds I've made with natural materials.

Last week a friend of mine invited me to come hunt on his property and in his stand on a power line. I'm not much of a stand hunter, I really enjoy the chase/stalk hence the addiction to Hog Dogs  Anyway, I graciously accept and decided this will be my first rifle hunt and I'll use the 270 Model 70 passed on to me from my uncle after his passing.

The night before it was a full moon and it was muggy, about 75deg. Crazy weather for December... I was worried it would be a bad day to hunt but some cloud cover moved in and the fog set in, so not all was lost. That morning when I woke it was the same, foggy and muggy. I got to the stand really early, about an hour before sun rise and immediately a North wind started blowing in some cool air straight to my back and the forest became ALIVE! I was pumped, it felt right. After 30 min or so I thought what I heard to be a deer moving through the brush to my back left so I set up to take a shot in that direction.

Sure enough, I look right for just a second then pan back left. A doe stepped out broad side at about 50yrds! I glass her and bang! She stumbles, I know it's a primo shot, she bails across the power line and into the woods. Immediately a young buck, 4 pt, jumps out from where she came and lands right in her tracks. No way this is happening I'm thinking. I rack another in the chamber as he turns left and starts to trot down the power line away from me. The hope that he would turn broadside was immense as I'm watching him through the scope. Sure enough! Just before he darts off into the forest he turns right and takes a look back toward me and goes broad slightly quartered away. WHAM! I let him have it at about 100 yrd.

Ended up recovering the Doe about 10yrd into the tree line and the buck about 50yrd in. That Buck though, it was a very difficult track and I completely understand some of the feelings you were having with the doubt. The thrill I had during this event was amazing. Like a giddy little kid.

Neither of them are trophies but that experience and the details around it sure do make it a trophy for me. I'm glad I could use my uncles gun to do that, the first hunt with it, and my first hunt of the year with a rifle, and the first 2 deer I ever bagged. BLESSED
