Ok it's the weekend and no one answered my emails on friday. So who do you guys order your steel from for S30V or S35V that is big enough for water jet? I have been trying to find a supplier for that and O1. Most only sell pieces that are 6 inches wide. I would prefer to buy a full plate and have it drop shipped so I can get the most out of the steel for my money. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Speaking from experience -> call Aldo.

I called Aldo friday but due to time zone differences just missed him. He was the first I called. I'll give him another call monday but earlier in the day.

Aldo told me a while back that the "full sheet" size for CPM steels is 24 x 36.

Well 24x36 is better than 6x36. If that's the biggest it comes then that will have to do. Thanks for the input.

Wow!!! If those prices are for real, then call them at your own peril!!!!! the other thing that scares me is the little blurb that says the pieces can be anywhere from 35 1/2 to 38 inches in length. If you have a blade that has a "footprint" length of say 12 inches, that makes a difference.

also SBmetals in TX
and last i ordered 24x36 was a half sheet and fulls are 3x4'
i order 24x36 inch sheats now and then and no matter where you get it PM is spendy stuff. im jsut about through my last sheet of XHP and is due for a re order (hoping that PD1 will also be ready for me to get at the next order )

I ordered a 2 inch wide strip of S90V from Admiral. The least I could buy was a 6 foot length. They sheared it off a larger sheet and had to heat the material up to red hot to facilitate the cut.

cpm steels shatter now and then when cold sheared so they heat and cut (saw cut is fine tho ) got a funny / painful storie from the folks at Carpenter steel about shearing PM steels

We typically roll the sheets 24 x 72 and then shear them in half for stock. We can supply full length sheets but you might have to wait a few weeks so we can set it aside before shearing.

We sell the strips/sheets 35.5 to 38 inches because we shear these directly after hot rolling. Sometimes the sheets shrink and go just a hair under 36". We try to shear them long enough to ensure 36" minimum and if we're a little long you get some bonus stock.
