I know there are several places that do it. But who is the best? What difference does cryo make? And how much does it usually cost. I'm not looking for cheap stuff I am just wondering. Eventually i want to be able to do it myself but for now this makes more sense

everyones input is apreciated thanks, evan

Depends on what steel you're using, for the majority I'd go with Paul Bos but some of like S90v he told me it'd be $100 extra because he doesn't like to ramp his furnaces up that high. If you're using high alloy supersteels I'd go with Phil Wilson instead.

Edit to add: Phils website

http://www.buckknives.com/ there is a link on the right of the screen that says Paul Bos Heat Treating. i think one blade is around 20 bucks + shipping and handling both ways. He only does Air Hardening steels now as OSHA will no longer let him use his salt pots and other things needed to cool oil hardening steels. Not sure if he would do water hardening steels though. His phone number can be found in the pdf file that comes up.
