I am currently in the market for a Shefield Mod 4 Brittish military knife, and am having an internal battle on who to give my hard earned money to without being able to walk out the shop with blade in hand. So I was curious if anyone had any experience with any of the following online stores.(Some slap-nut on ebay is selling the same knife for 199.9)Also if anyone has any feed back on this knife it may help me make a decision. Without further rambling, here they are 1. www.knifepro.com 98.25 2. www.knife-depot.com 92.99 3.www.bladematrix.com 93.59 4. www.imsplus.com 89.95 and 5. www.crocblades.com 82.39. Any feedback is appreciated. Gravelface

None of the above. I would pick the knife up from Fred at www.knifeoutlet.com . His price isn't as low as those you listed, but he has a good reputation.

Of the ones you mentioned, I would avoid bladematrix like the plague. They suck!

appreciate the response. anything with "matrix" in its name should be avoided like the plague.....or keanu.

Definately knife outlet. A couple of the others up top take your order then search their suppliers. Takes MONTHS sometimes.

Well, thats 2 for knife depot..if I can get a third it may be a done deal. Hey you guys arent getting kick backs for giving them business eh? I am also trying to find out about that brittish knife if anyone has one or handled it I would love to know ....cant really find useful info on it other than specs.A big FT HOOD howdy goes out to all my military brothers.

Im in search of an all around high quality production knife. Uses include skinning and light chopping what are some recommendations?

Im wondering if it is possible and who would I contact to find out if I could have a custom forged from a piece of 155mm round shrapnel I luckily missed the delivery of? How could I find out if the steel is workable?

??? You should split up your posts between forums.

Post #7 you should ask in the general knife forum.

#8 & 9 Check out the knife makers section and find a piece you like, then ask the maker.

Oh yes, knifeoutlet, good repuatation around here.

bladematrix is a good company to deal with. The shipping is slow but I have never had a mis-delivery. They also respond to emails fairly quickly.

Uh-oh, round three goes to the underdog Blade matrix....anyone else care to throw in their 2 cents?

Call them both, you can usually tell how good they are by how they sound. That or how clued up they are on what they sell.

K.O is going to be your best bet in the list you have made.

BLADEMATRIX looks pretty good to me.

I just sent them an email but their prices are so damn low it can´t be true?!

that´s too good to be true.

What do you all think about them?

bladematrix's low price is offset by their shipping time, usually about 1.5 - 2 weeks to california. I think they do quite a bit of direct shipping from the factory that's how the prices are kept low.

they have been trustworthy and friendly on the several occasions I have dealt with them.
