Who uses reverse grip?

I have had limited success with the reverse grip in slashing, but for stabbing, its quite powerful. Any hammer fist is now a powerful stabbing attack. I imagine that when armor was still worn, holding down your opponent and hammer fist type stabbing was about the only sure way to get through it.

when warriors still wore armor it would be much easier to just find the openings between plates and insert your blade there instead of damaging your knife by trying to can-open their armor. Especially if they are down and you're on top of them. It sounds vicious, but the eye holes of their helm come to mind too.

Yeah I was talking about the ice pick style. Sorry if my terminology was wrong.

You might of been right, I don't know. It seemed odd, people were talking about different grip's.... Anyways now the pic makes it very clear.

And, only ninjas have a use for that grip.

Some seem to be talking about holding the knife with the edge in, blade up by your thumb. Other seem to be talking about icepick type grip, knifeis upside down and your thumb is at the tail end of the blade.

Maybe the OP is talking about a icepick grip? I use the knife in a "reverse grip" more than a normal grip. I use it to pull through cardboard... Yeah yeah yeah, cut away from yourself. I know MOM!!! Really though I have zero use for a icepick grip, but when knifesterbating I find myself trying it out.

:D

i "knifesterbate" every day in my reverse grip, especially with my strider sng, trident wharnie gets some fun time too, with the tip turned down it keeps me from stabbing myself in the arm

I've tried the reverse grip, but that edge is sharp. The pain - the blood loss - it was an easy decision. I'll keep holding my knives by their handles.
