who uses there bali for cutting things?

GIB, whats your daily carry?

Mine at the moment is a Spyderco Military and a Spyderco credit card knife. If I wear a shirt I also carry a CRKT drop point stiff kiss as a neck knife.

As GIB said, it is a no-no to carry a Bali in the UK. As far as I am aware they are legal to own in your own home. Thats from a friend of mine who is a KnifeKnut and a lawer.

I use it for all things. At home it is one of the preferred knives for doing most tasks even kitchen stuff. When I travel it is always a quick thing to whip it out and cut something or it is a great thing to pass the time waiting.

Its funny how much you wait wneh you really travel.

UTP cable, and Krone (we call it here, those panels for MDF, after the most well known brand)puncher!

I use my bali to strip the outer jacket of the UTP prior to crimping it to an RJ45 .. and also to strip the wire of RJ11 cable prior to screwing it to the wall socket ..

and to peel apple .. and shave my face .. and kill some trolls

... and slice the Khim Chee (Korean Pickled Vegies).. and open my son's milk powder can .. you name it.

JohnR7, you can tell people I do this with my Taiwan waved rostfrei .. of course with steeling in between rough job to put the edge back ..

Alex, did the bali stop the dentist from complaining?

Mr Wayne,
I don't really have a fixed EDC at the moment. However, as of a couple of days ago, I've started carrying my BM705 everywhere, regardless of whatever else I've got on me. A lot of it comes down to what I can actually managed to sharpen though - I'm notoriously bad at sharpening even with my Sharpmaker.

Oh, and I always carry this too.

As for the legality, well I asked a UK police officer who posts on the forums, and he basically said they're illegal to own (apprently it's covered under the firearms act which is why it's hard to find).

I've still got an old brass handled bali I bought legally over here many years ago, so as far as I'm concerned, it's all a load of crap anyway.

I only use my 1985 PC International for both, and the rest only for manipulation.

>>Hey John, use the pinky, works great

Ok, I well work on that.

We were at a picnic today, and my wife needed a knife to slice open a mango with. I thought that a Balisong would make a great picnic or a great melon knife.

I have some customers who collect melon knives and there is a very limited selection available, and they are often difficult to find. Esp. if you want a quality knife to cut open a watermelon.

I for one, think a Balisong should be standard equipment in every picnic basket. The fruit dealers at the market should use Balisong's when they slice off a peice of fruit for people to sample.

Sense United and Pakinstan quit making their picnic knives. The Balisong really is about the best knife available for the job right now. Where else are you going to find a folding knife with a blade long enough to cut through a watermelon? Thanks, JohnR7

I just used mine today to scrape calking off of tile, and also digging out some grout. That always trashes the edge a little. :)
