Who wants a CQC-7 with a thumb hole?

I've looked around a bit and couldn't find where anyone had posted but how many people would like to see a 7 with the Eotac trianglular thumb hole instead of the thumb disc and a wave hook?

It would require so much change to the profile of the whole knife to do it that it wouldn't be a 7 anymore. At least IMO.

I was thinking use the same tanto blade, handle and everything else it would just have a little extra hump on the back where the thumb hole and wave would be. It could definitely be renamed that was just the profile that came to mind.

I guess it could be done, but it just wouldn't look right for an Emerson. I can envision it, but the whole blade spine profile would have to change. I see it coming out something kind of like a Spyderco Vallotton or Para Military 2 I'm gonna have to go with dr_fosg8 here on this on. The CQC-7 just doesn't have the shape for a blade thumb hole.

I guess using the 7 strictly was a poor choice of words. What I meant was a straight tanto blade with a thumb hole opener and a semi straight handle profile.

You want that hole to be a lot bigger if you're opening with gloves or under stress. I don't think it'll fly.

I almost wanna go order a piece of 154CM and have a go at it making a blade with that profile and thumb hole. I don't think I would go with the CQC-7 B grind, either the A or V. Probably get an old Benchmade 97x for the frame/lock components, since almost everyone of them I have seen for sale has serrations (I like plain edge), that and I prefer the wave feature.

The hole could be Eotac shaped or CQC-10 shapped.

I really don't like the thumbhole on the EOTAC model. It's uncomfortable compared to the Endeavor, Traveler or Reliant. One in the El Bandito is OK but the pushing against the flat section of the thumbhole in the EOTAC can be tough with a sore thumb. All personal experience, YMMV.

Let's get one thing out of the way, no one is ever hiring me for graphic design.:D

I used the Emerson Endeavor hole and hook grafted onto a Super CQC-7.
I don't know which idea I like better a CQC-10 tanto with a 7 handle where the hole is cut into the blade or more like what dr_fosg8 put where there is actual material added to compensate for the hole.

Lol, your graphic still proves the idea of concept. I think the best would be to add material to the top of the blade, even with the cutout where you slide your thumb in to release the lock bar, the thumb hole would need to be a little higher. I wouldn't go full round hole, just something a little narrower height wise, that's why I was thinking CQC-10 hole or something like that.

I agree I think you would have to go with the super CQC-7 size to actually make the model worthwhile though. Otherwise it's just too much like the Reliant.

I would leave it be and the Reliant is the closest thing to what you want just like the others are saying. They would either have to make the blade bigger or the grip smaller which would fall under a thumb hole Super 7 and the reliant

I was kinda thinking the same thing myself about using the Super CQC-7, it will allow for around .5" longer blade length. Since I'd be working on a budget, I was doing a little research, I could get either of a couple of the Benchmades $160 or $165. Not bad considering. Also, I did look for a Super CQC-7, found one for only a few dollars more. I would really like to try to find something cheaper for this experiment though, if I do go ahead and decide to try making a blade. That all of course is as long as you guys have no objections, I don't want to step on the toes of anyone's ideas.
