Who wants a Ganga Ram Special?

Uncle Bill,

Thanks for the opportunity to get in on one of these. Opportunities like this are rare coming from someone his age, much less his ability and talent! May he carry his talent on for another couple of decades

.....but...just in case, it's better to get one now, rather then later

Take care,

It all just seems like something out of a book - ancient skilled craftsman in an inaccesable village with nearly lost knowledge makes magical blade the Old Fashioned Way. And we get to buy them ...

I nominate Uncle Bill and Kami Sherpa for an honorary postgrad degree in marketing.

Can the Ganga Ram designer jeans be far behind?

Will we be able to buy his line of cologne at Saks Fifth Avenue?

Seriously, I am can hardly wait to hear how the Magical Khukri came out, and to get my own GRS (Ganga Ram Special). Everything is better when it comes with a story, and this is a fantastic one.

Jeff, that post made me laugh!

We are hoping that Ganga will agree to do the work in shop 2 for reasons that I have outlined. I think he will and if he does we will be able to supply a picture essay of work in progress. Probably making the Ganga Ram Special the best provenanced khukuri in the history of the world.

Uncle Bill

Glad you liked it.

I am still just furious that an American customs agent would steal from parcels he was searching. (see the Where are my khukuris? thread).

The only thing that could even be called 'good' about the magic khukuri being stolen is that it is still _somewhere_, not broken or sunk in a river.

We can't be sure it is customs but that's my guess. Of course, we cannot prove anything. The parcel has travelled 12,000 miles to get here and has gone through many hands. We left the parcel with the UPS agent in Kathmandu with 30 good khukuris inside. Only 26 got to our mailing service (which I trust implicitly I might add)so somewhere along the way somebody had to take the khukuris. Who? Nobody can say for sure.

Uncle Bill

A pair of that many hands might be belong to a "Magician" ... he might be decided to play a "magic trick" to the "Magical" Ganga Ram Khukuri for a little while ... then it will appear again in front of us - I wish Pakcik Bill will finally receive it! insyaa-Allaah!

Mohd, I hope you are right. We have all seen very mysterious things happen in this life so we may hope for the magical appearance of the magic khukuri.

Uncle Bill

Ghost, I think one of the problems may be there are others wandering around US Customs besides inspectors. Maintenance, service, etc.

Uncle Bill

True, Bill, when one looks into things it is amazing to see how many people actually have access to restricted areas. And how little track is kept of their time there.

It is an unfortuante reality of life.

Nice to see this project will go ahead. Lovely looking blade.
