Who Wants a Jola?

I thought this might do better with its own thread. In the first "Greetings & Blessings" thread, Bill is shown carrying a Tibetan Jola on his shoulder. He mentioned that these could be had if we get 10 takers. At last count, there were 5. Anyone else interested?

Maybe not a jola, but maybe one of those hats what are those? Topi? Now that would be cool.

I am in, looks like a great present for my wife, take the edge off from the knife purchase I just made.

Now we are seven.

(I can't believe I finally got to use that line from the old movie, "The Magnificent Seven.")

Bill,
I think it would also be worth a little extra if along with the jola there was a little info about who made it (in general if not in particular) where it was made, the personal touch! That extra something to give to someone that can't be had at Pier One Imports or anything like them.

ps. Are the prayer bells still available?

Bill,

Is the recent decline in tourism in Nepal negatively affecting the street vendors and makers of handicrafts? I would guess that due to the political situation prices may be depressed, and vendors anxious for customers.

:
I will take one also. The pic in't coming up for me, but what the hey.

I would also like to have a topi. I like those little caps a lot!

OK, Brian, will do. I think that's 8.

Howard, all the business folks were complaining about the lack of business and it was certainly apparent. Ususally bustling Thamel looked like a ghost town. The Chimney Room at the Yak and Yeti had more staffers than customers. The Bugles and Tigers bar at the Everest had only our group as customers and it was the same everywhere. I have never seen Nepal so empty.

You probably don't remember this but the shrine of Manakamana is almost exactly half way to Pokhara -- same road. We stopped several times along the way and I was watching the buses. I don't remember seeing a single westerner. Most unusual, especially for mid Feb. Little wonder they took me for an old Nepali Brahmin! There were no foreigners around. Maoists and travel warnings have scared them away.

It is not a good situation and I hope it does not worsen.

While reading posts my wife saw the jola and decided that she wanted one. Brian, I guess you can and it to your list. Thanks kindly.
