Who wants a Mnandi???

I have come to the conclusion that I do not or will not need my Mnandi. It’s a shame because she is a very beautiful knife and one of the first 200. Buying her was very impulsive on my part, so it’s time to find her a new home.

This Mnandi is number 132-200, and has a ziricote wood inlay. Her birthday is November 5th, 2001. She was bought three days ago and new in box, never carried, taken apart, or sharpened. Everything about her is perfect. You will get factory box, all paper work, Allen wrench, and a piece of foam from a Spyderco box I cut out to protect her.

$300 bucks shipped UPS ground. It will cost a bit more for overnight, 2nd day, 3rd day, etc.

BTW, I understand I am supposed to do all of my selling in exchange, but I am a basic member with no plans of selling another knife here. This is a first time thing, and if I do ever sell again I will go premium. Thank you.

toolin,

This is a major shock to me. Granted, I do not know you, but I have read many of your threads and posts. You are a strong CR advocate and to sell the knife that you haven't quit talking about is very strange. Maybe you should sleep on this, I just know you will regret it in the long run. For Pete's sake, cut out a couple of Big Macs a week to make up for the money lost on your "impulse" buy. That is what I have done lately. I hope you reconsider.

A fellow impulse buyer,

You know you are doing wrong and you are doing in anyway.

You are a low life.
:barf:

My Mnandi is still for sale at $300 shipped btw.

RGRAY, I have been nothing but helpful to this forum and the people on it. I tell my friends, owners of knife stores, and people on other web-sites to become part of the bladeforum family. Most of the people on this board know that I never insult other member’s, and always give my best advice. I’m sorry if you feel that I’m a “low life.” Other then now I have never sold a knife here, I don’t own or know how to use a digital camera, and I have no desire to post photos from my hard drive. I really do not need a premium membership at this time. Maybe after I have been here for some time I will go for it, but it’s hard to make that decision with people like you insulting me.

WHAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL?

I have reported this and it will be removed.

You should know better.

I would ban your a$$.

And you have the nerve to say "My Mnandi is still for sale at $300 shipped btw."

If you're so good you should be setting an axample and not breaking the rules. :barf:

RGRAY, it's ok if you have this post removed because it's sold.

I don't know if your having a bad day or you didn’t get your coffee but you need to chill (may I suggest Wine & Cheese). You seem to be the only person on this forum who wants to start a fight. Like I said, I intend to get a premium membership one-day to support the forums. You are the first person I have gotten into a conflict with since I joined in July. I hope you are the last. Have a nice day:).

We've got a pretty clear policy here - no selling outside of the for sale forums. Only Gold members are allowed to sell on the site - because by paying for a subscription, they help keep the site open.

It doesn't matter if this is your first time selling, you should know better. Would you prefer that we didn't have a Chris Reeve forum, or a site at all, just because you didn't feel like doing your part to help keep the site open?

Think about it. You may not lose any sleep over it, but you are not exempt from the rules

Looks like you got your wish. :)

Maybe it's just me but this whole thing appears a little heavy handed.
I would have thought;

That a Moderator would edit the offending gratuitous forsale post, with a note stating that this is not allowed and followed up with an email to the member of this with a one and only warning, copied to Spark for background reference against that member so the Next offence, IF there would be one, is then treated with a banishment.

Maybe I'm alone in this thinking but this is also supposed to be a place where we get along? Some members are young and pissing matches are always a messy way to do business, as each person usually gets wet...not to mention the smell...and the stain.

I have to agree with G2, this should have been handled more diplomaticly, simply stating due to the user's rating he is unable to use the forum for this transaction, and suggest that the person upgrade to a gold member rating if he wishs to sell items. A MODERATORS role should be to oversee the posts. He should not come out of the corner swinging. If the MODERATORS can not respond calmly and act this way, i ask who is going to MODERATE the MODERATORS !

I think that maybe if Toolin had handled this whole thing a little differently he would not have been banned.

It's one thing to start lightly mentioning that your knife is for sale, or e-mailing people who are asking about the Mnandi that you have one available, but it's a whole other ballgame when you blatently break the rules and thumb your nose at the people who make them. All that's doing is asking it to get heated.

What about all of the people who only had one knife to sell and bought a membership just to sell that knife? It kind of devalues the Gold Membership if people can go into other forums and post things for sale without retribution.

I believe only Admin's and Super Moderators can do anything in forums other than their own. So I don't know if RGRAY could have done anything other than what he did.

Toolin knew the rules when he posted here so simply saying "hey, here's the rules" would not have done any good. Had he handled the situation differently it may not have come to this..

Just my $0.02

I have seen people post things for sale in area's out of ignorance of the rules and they were not banned, this is different.

This is not the first time this member has tried to get around the sale rules on this forum. He posted a thread promoting his own eBay auction some time back, never mentioned it was his own knife for sale.

I don’t have any sympathy for him, he broke the rules for his own purposes and now has to suffer the consequences. To continue to ignore the situation would be unfair to everyone who has decided that this forum is worth supporting.

Let's look at what was said.

"BTW, I understand I am supposed to do all of my selling in exchange, but I am a basic member with no plans of selling another knife here. This is a first time thing, and if I do ever sell again I will go premium. Thank you."

He knowingly didn't care about breaking the rules.

I would have edited his post and e-mailed him as I have done before, but I couldn't in this forum; only Spark and CRK could do that.

I told him he was wrong; what does he say?

"My Mnandi is still for sale at $300 shipped btw."

I said, "I have reported this and it will be removed."

RGRAY, it's ok if you have this post removed because it's sold.

I said, "I hope you're happy with yourself."

"Well I'm not going to loose sleep over it tonight... :) "

Gary W. Graley and Hermie, not that I owe you an explanation, but I disagree with you completely.

Do you believe everybody deserves one free "for sale" post?

Do you think people should say I know I am doing wrong and I'm going to do it anyway?

Do you think people should say I sold it so do what you want?

What would other young members do if this one was allowed or just be warned?

I think that was Toolin's problem; he's only been warned all his life.

It looks like you two guys are alone on this.

Toolin e-maied me that he got some sympathic e-mails and that I am not liked.

I wonder where they came from.

This whole affair saddens me. Toolin had some interesting comments/posts and I will miss his input; however, he was pretty "in your face" about breaking the rules of the forum, and I agree that banning him was the best option. He agreed to the rules when he became a member. Too bad.
