Hey folks,

For the past two years i have been searching the planet for original Buck catalogues. Due to some tremendous help from Buck enthusiasts, i have compiled 18 pre 1978! 3 of them are from the late 40's!
I have had them reproduced and would like to start offering them to collectors. I would like to cover the reproduction cost and donate some of the proceeds to the club. My question is:
What would you pay for a collection like this?

Hi Joe, Count me in, I would like 2 sets, one for a friend. How does cost plus a $10.00 donation to the Club sound?

Tell us more about the reproductions. Are they color? Photocopied?

I`m in for one no matter how they were done. $10 sounds reasonable, unless you spent a bunch on high quality repros. Let us know what YOU think is fair!

Sounds good to me, too, Joe.

Joe,

Put me down for a set. I would think $30. or so would not be out of line. You say there are 18 different ones? How many pages does that come too? There be more than we realize. If say I would pay even more.

Regards,

Tom Carey

Hey Joe,

I like the idea of cost plus a ten dollar donation to the club. And thanks for thinking of us, I don't care what some of the other Buck employees say about you. You are alright in my book! He he!

Hi Joe,

18 catalogs, huh? Pre-'78? And going back into the late 40's?

Hey, name your price. 50 bucks sounds reasonable for what you are offering. There's a lot of history in what you have, and I'd be willing to pay that, especially if it's going back into the club.

Put my name in for a set of catalog reprints, please.

Wow!,

Sounds like i amy need to make more! Here are some details. The repros were printed on regular paper, not my first choice but they did not ask before they ran 200 sets. A few of them were taken from Xerox copies which was all i could find.
The first two, from the 40's are in black and white and green, like the originals, and look really cool! The rest are black and white, just like the originals.
I may be typeing out loud here but i will look into the cost of re-printing them in a gloss type, higher quality paper.
More details when they become available,

Take care,

i might want one.
Do you know what the prices for the reproduction is running at. And i think it would be great if you could go with the glossy paper, have it look as much like the origional as possible.

Thanks

The verdict is in. In the Buck Collectors club newsletter for August, you will see the set offered for $6.00 plus a donation to the Buck Collectors club. You decide on the amount of the donation. This price covers the cost, (I hope) plus allows you to give what you can to the club. I will have 10 sets autographed by Chuck Buck and sent out randomly.
Nonmembers can buy a set after September. I got a lot of help from members in compiling these and want to give them first crack.

Count me in too! I am not quite clear on what I, a nonmember, should do but I am sure you will cover that in September. Note: I'm more interested in the info. vs. the perfect copy collectability reprint. Plain language: Zerox is fine. Thanks.

James,

Of course the best thing you can do is join the club!

But short of that, whatever i have left after September will be offered to everybody else for a reasonable cost. Ultimately, i want a more informed bunch of collectors out in the knife world. It makes it a lot more fun to buy and trade when we know what each knife is.

Take care,
