I got roped into a conference at Snowbird next month. Is that anywhere even remotely near you, Heber?

YES it is! I couldn't remember just how close so I went towww.maps.com and looked it up. It's about 105 miles north of Ephraim and would take about 2 hours and 10 minutes to drive between the two. Go here for driving directions from Snowbird to Ephraim.

If I can score a rental car I'll have to try and meet up with you. I'll keep you posted. Tentative dates are October 21-24.

Awsome! Good luck with the trip and I hope you have a great time. It would be sweet if we could get together for a bit and talk knives or what ever. If you can make it, I'll be sure to have something good in the dutch oven for you.:) Plus I'll do what I can to help out with fual.

Well, shortly I'll be meeting up with the rest of the Outdoor Club and we will be heading up to Mount Nebo.:) If anyone can make it, look up the directions online (look up Nephi and the Nebo Scenic loop). They will give you better ones than I can.:o Plus you should be able to find a map. BTW We will be at an Unimproved campsite just north of the Ponderosa campground which is just off the Nebo scenic loop.

I was going to leave everyone with a few pics of the club before we left but my friend with the Digi Cam couldn't make it to the meeting.:( Sorry, but I'll have pics some time after we get back. Don't worry, they will be worth the wait.;)

My Buck 110 is on my belt, my Buck 105 and 15" AK are in the grub box. I'm ready to go. Have a great weekend everyone, I know I will;). Will report on the trip when I get back. See you then, Bye.

...all those girls I loved before...
...who travelled in and out my doors...
...we're glad they came along...

Well, you get the picture...;) :D

:) Plenty of females in the woods, though possibly not of the species that get our blood pressures up. Tropical rainforests sure look exotic in those National Geographic documentaries, except for the heat and humidity. Everything 'natural' will have fungus growing on it within a week. Plus the killer leeches and mosquitoes. Typically, by the 4th day into the hike, everybody smells so foul no self respecting animal (male or female) will get within 200 yards of us.

The very first time I went jungle hiking, we inadvertently picked a day that co-incided with the start of the monsoon season...

redvenom- you made me laugh about hiking with the hairy ones. Young men want love and to get laid; so what invariably happens? They end up hiking in remote locations without a chance of coming across a female...

Course, if I can believe the beverage and tennis shoe ads on TV, women are out there in droves in the wilderness...

Will there be girls?

Hiking in the mountains all day and sleeping with a 20 year old college girl all night would spell certain death for me.

Me too... my wife and I refer to it as a "Sicilian wedding pact."

That's why you camp then hike.:)

BTW the trip went prety good. There were 5 guys and 10 girls at the start of the trip. Friday night two of the guys left before dinner so there were only 3 of us and 10 girls. The food turned out okay, a little bland because I ran out of seasoning hence only okay. As for the hike, I didn't go do to work but the others that did, had a good time. Only 3 girls made it to the top of Nebo and they did it in good time. I should have pictures to share with all of you some time next week at the earliest.

Up Nebo I had two wood cutting tools with me, a Corona Folding saw and my 15" AK. Before it got dark (didn't ahve a lantern) I used to AK a bunch. Chopping fire wood, and chopping down and Limbing a small tree. The AK really impressed every one that watched. After dark I did more with the saw for safty reasons and it handled all wood with ease. Even after owning the AK for a year, I'm still impressed and amazed at it's performance.:)
