Who would buy a WIP book by Bruce Bump and Nick Wheeler?

This thread can be moved to one of the open discussion forums if you guys want, but Shop Talk is about knifemaking, not book ventures.
Let me know by PM if you want it in another location.

I am a professional photographer with 25 years before I closed my studio darkroom business because of digital and the lack of US manufacturing put most of us out of business, I also have a Masters in printing and (more importantly) have several years experience doing prepress and typesetting professionally (and learned digital typesetting from two guys who were as well known in that industry as some of our leading smiths are in ours)
If Nick and Bruce are willing and can supply original images to work with I can do prepress/image editing to get it ready if there is a publisher wiling to work with this (there are some publish it yourself outlets that a lot of my friends are using, they used to be called vanity publishers, they are not always the best deal, and I have heard some really bad feedback about publishing through Paladin)

theHobbyist, if you've never seen a Bruce Bump WIP, you have missed something very special. I strongly encourage you to check out this thread:

I forget how many hundred pictures are in that truly epic and entirely hand-built work of art WIP, but it's awe inspiring. Pretty much any of the threads in his sub forum are worth a look. I've got a few makers I look up to when it comes to design, fit-and-finish, and raw artistic ability. Bruce and Nick happen to be on my short list.

Bruce and Nick? If it's not too exorbitant, I'd be in. I can't say I could justify more than 25ish or so, however, for any knife book.

Stacy, I guess this looked like peddling a book... but since there is no actual book I thought it was just kicking ideas around. I'm not complaining--- you do what 'ya gotta do. :)

Page- Thank you, I really appreciate your offer to help out if this idea were ever to go anywhere. :) At this point, I would have to do a lot of studying just to be able to ask you the right questions. :o LMAO :)

Nathan- Thanks for the kind words my friend! And for the link to Bruce's work over on kd. Bruce's WIPs are freak'n AWESOME. :D

Crimsonfalcon--- so what you're saying is: my idea to make a book and charge $1,000 for each copy is not realistic? ;)

Strider- Thanks! But I must admit I stole that from a T-shirt. In real life, it's me talking to Angi while we're driving somewhere and I, without warning, shift gears in mid sentence and say, "Whoa, look at that truck!" or "Did you see that Bloodgood Maple?!?! We need one like that for our yard!.... wait, what was I saying?" :o :foot:

Ah well, I guess a guy can't be this good looking and this talented without having some sort of flaw...

HaHaHaHaHa!!! LMFAO!!! :p :D I iz just keeding... :)

HECK YES, I'd buy a book with photos of Nick Wheeler!.!... He's dreamy. {sigh} :D

Nick and Bruce are the KINGS of WIP threads. I've stolen more ideas from those guys (particularly Nick) than just about any other source. I sure wish I could steal their talent as well. ;)
Another great WIP thread that I have filed away was done by Steve Culver. Lots of good info and photos there as well.

I really like WIP threads. I reckon its the next best thing to actually visiting someones shop, and being on the other side of the globe helps me a lot. You can always pick up a little tip here and there. I would definately be up for a book/video by either or both of these 2 great makers. So having said all of that, Where do I sign up?
Cheers Keith

Thanks guys for any and all compliments here.
My Wips are a bit "hit and miss" and many are just enough info to get your feet wet. I believe you need to have some experience under your belt to use one of mine. Nicks on the other hand seem to be more step by step and explained better. He has some fancy book learnin and knows how to explain things very well.

I cant see very much profit after paying to have the publishing completed. My Wips are there for all to see for free. I think people are used to tuning in anytime on-line and may not spring for a book in todays prices. When I started back in 1988 there was no internet available and books were hot sellers but nowadays I'm not so sure. My library is dusty.

Can I please get an autographed copy.

I get what your saying about the holes, but, if the WIP of yours I have read so far are any indication I as sure the information provides would make any of the holes look more like a little punch mark in the middle of a 4x8 piece of plate. This goes for both Nick and Bruce. I can't say enough about how much both have given me. Thanks

I'd love one.
There'se quite a few 'how to' books out there to get a person started.
Not to many advanced books going deeper in some subjects or showing techniques beyond the beginning.
IMHO a Wheeler/Bumb, Wheeler or Bumb- book can fit in right here.

Very interesting to see a WIP, read and see what they do. See it as it is; art in progress and pick up tips, tricks, idea's to use for your own knifemaking.
