Who would USE an INFI Machete???

I would love to get my hands on a BAZilla!!! I can just imagine how much fun and productivity I could get out of a Basic Anorexic Zilla around .18 thick with res-c grips. One can dream!

Absolutely

I thought we resolved that it should be a Scrapyard project S77 with ResC handle.

Hi Chuck, good to see you mate ... yes I use my Zilla's for machete use too and they work well ... they are'nt cheap though ... lol ... but a lighter Zilla in the same vain as the Basic's would be an interesting option ...

I know that the Bushwacker is a bit thicker then a Machete but it's about as close as we are going to get I think. A lot of people thought it really lacked the weight to be a good chopper.
Machete are usually pretty cheap and people throw them away so I don't think they will happen in INFI. Like disposable shaving razors, some things are just better cheap and throw away and thus will probably not be made in INFI.

I would love a Busse Machete.

I end up using my inexpensive Condor Bolo Machete more than I use any of my Busse knives because I need a brush-clearing and vine-hacking tool. It makes me sad that I have to use the cheaper knife because I don't have the right Busse tool in my toolbox... a thin Infi machete.

Ummmm... Can I get this in black/tan or pumpkin G10's pls. Just want the pure design and lines from of a medium sized-large machete in pure INFI goodness. One can dream. Bump for Bazilla & Busschete.:thumbdn::thumbup:

Would I? ...Do Hogs Fly!!!

I would jump all over a B-18 or a Scrap Yard 18" "Bull Mastiff", if thad name hasn't been used.

+2 on the BAZilla!

+1 on good to see you posting, Chuck! :D

As far as using an INFI machete, how could you not?

Oh boy oh boy would that be cool.

I'm planning a trip to Borneo and it's seriously frustrating to stand in front of my shelves with xy Busse Knifes - long and short, thick and thin. But no machete :grumpy:

0.18" !?! Too thick! :thumbdn:

+1. Glad to hear that folks are listening. A Scrapper version would be the better value.

I would love a Busse Machete.

... a thin Infi machete.

 If it's not thin, then it's NOT a machete.

Hey Will, I think that is what I am wondering though. I know I would use it but I am not sure I would abuse it like I do my Ontario. I would definitely buy one.

Guy - I understand the logic behind the value of the scrapyard, but honestly the same could be said for the ontario to the scrapyard project. So where does it stop?

I will say this, I would put MY ontario up against whatever. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe its the edge I have on it...I'm not sure. I don't think I would buy a scrapyard project, though I would buy a Busse Machete. Considering my machete has held up to EVERYTHING, holds an incredible edge and is the design I love, I would only be buying a Busse machete because I like Busse. I like INFI from my experience with it. I like the thickness of the Ontario's whatever they are after I have ground some thickness off of both of my users.

I don't know, I just brought up the question to see if I am crazy for not seeing myself treating a Busse Machete as I would an Ontario. I would baby it kind of like I do with my Ontario that I put a few days worth of work into. Keep it clean, and stored in a safe spot. As opposed to my old Ontario that I either forget I left it in the field or tossed in a bucket full of baseball bats.

Just my thoughts.

I use the Ontario that I put a lot of work into but it was my first real project and I love to use it but I hate to beat it up.

I was clearing trees about 8-10" in diameter that had grown all along the barn. I was using an old Stihl chainsaw because they were right up against the concrete barn. The chain was so dull it stopped cutting. So with about 20 trees left I got out my modded Ontario and I was taking them down in under ten chops.

Then, as I was massacring these trees with the most ridiculous speed and efficiency I hit the concrete HARD FULL SWING right before the tree, and SPARKS flew along with a gash out of the concrete.

I don't have a macro lens, just P&S and its almost dark but I think cropped WAY in you can see what I am trying to reference.

Here is what it did to my edge at the tip (the fibers are from wiping oil off for the pic):

Expect that out of a thinned out 20 dollar Ontario??:D

Here is an idea of the thickness

Here is my issue:

I fitted and finished these scales PERFECTLY flush. That is rust from being stored. The rust was enough to create a gap...

Maybe I should have used epoxy between the scales??? Not sure but its 1095 carbon steel and I can tell from grinding the handle area is MUCH softer then the blade.

I would love an INFI machete because I could use it, but take care of it. I just don't know if I would abuse it like the BEATER ontario I have pictured on the first page. That ontario has been through about 15 years of abuse, so many regrinds...
