If you took a knife apart that’s brand it’s yours now. Send it in for warranty. If its fresh out the box opened once or twice and that reveals a problem, send it to the dealer and make them aware of the problem. Request a new one.

Side note, clean your lock faces with rubbing alcohol.

Yes, this ^. Next step is to use alcohol and remove that "high end lube". If the lock is bare Ti, lube tends to make lock-stick worse. The few bare Ti locks of mine that have started off with a little sticky, all have broken in nicely and disappeared. Sharpie and pencil have lessoned the issue during the break-in process.

I know many will say that a good knife should not need a break-in. But with my no-insert Ti locks, that just what they needed. Now rock solid. Bad memory here, but a couple of mine that come to mind are an early ZT 0561 and Kizer 3452. Actually three of those Kizers in the family, all rock solid amazing actions now. Ymmv

Take the bogus pictures to Whine and Cheese.
Give your opinion on the topic. Do not give your opinion of other posters.

Opinions on dealers need to be in GB&U forum, with proof of the claimed issues. Random claims of wrong doing are not acceptable.

Howdy. I just had a Spartan Harsey delivered and it has a major problem - Holy lockstick Batman. In fact, it’s actually full on lock stuck. I carefully disassembled it, used high end lube on it and reassembled it. I then left it half opened for three days.

No improvement.

So here are my questions -in general, not brand specific:
- If I buy a knife with a problem like this do I return it to the store (if I bought it from a store)
- Do I send it to the manufacturer?
- If I bought it from a large online seller do I call them or skip that and go to the manufacturer.
-If one buys a knife from a small online outfit should you call them or just go to the manufacturer?

BTW - this is my third Harsey and the first two were impeccable.
Back from where you got it for full refund or exchange . They should pay shipping , etc .

Only exception is when I got a big discount or was informed of the problem before buying .

Depending on how bad , try short break in period and tricks short of disassembly . I'd rather have a little stick than a slip .

Edit: I've been very pleased with KnifeCenter .

OP Seriously call Spartan Blades. I wrote an article on here a year ago or so about my experience with them. They are absolutely awesome. I absolutely guarantee they will take care of the knife for you and ship it back lightning fast. 24 hour turnaround time for mine. Trust me when I tell you just call them, they will make it right for you.

Hope your problem gets resolved, keep us posted.

Second this, Mark and Curtis will get you squared away, call the shop. They like to know of issues so they can try to prevent them in the future. Sending it back to dealer may or may not get the info to them. Same applies to Reeve.

No - please do not continue with this poor advice. The OP has taken apart the knife. Either ship it to the factory for warranty work or continue tweak by himself. Definitely should not return to the dealer.

That's why I said : " short of disassembly " .

But in some cases , e.g. if I thought I'd uncovered a major factory flaw internally , I would feel completely justified to return to seller if I'd payed MAP . That's one of the main justifications for such inflated pricing , IMO . Extra special customer service .

So you did not read the original post because the OP clearly said he disassembled the knife.

As for returning a knife to the dealer that you dissembled and found a major factory flaw, it is debatable although I understand your reasoning. But that is irrelevant to this thread so I'll stop here.

did not read the original post
:) Probably , more like just didn't remember or was making a more general comment .

But just to be clear : I would normally NOT carry , use , sharpen or disassemble a knife (or anything else ) until I've decided to keep it for sure .
