Who'da thunk it (about WWII's)

I do a lot of the prep work in the kitchen. The last knife I bought for the kitchen was a Global and she ended up in hospital after slicing ito her finger, she's a south paw and I always flinch when she cuts anything as it looks so akward.

I think the problem is she puts the Kukri alongside my Martial art equipment. A little too dangerous and with no real purpose.

We agree to disagree. :)

to the Cantina.

Sorry to hear about the restrictive knife legislation. What about regimental or dress dirks in the traditional Scottish style? I saw Sgean dubhs for sale (made by hand) in Edinburgh Castle in the 80's.

Would you believe we have to wear plastic replicas now. As Scotland is so multi-cultural national dress could include Sikh's wearing swords so all blades are restricted.

As someone said in one of the other forums all knives are considered weapons rather than tools here. Sad really. I could be arrested if I take my Kukri camping but I have always taken a good knife camping as I believe it is not safe to go otherwise.

What is the average weight of the 18" WWIIs? I have an 18" AK that is a mere 28 oz. I was looking for a lighter weight AK and this one was in stock. To me, that is the best length and weight.

On Scotland:
It's so heartbreaking that the land that developed some really nice sword and knife designs has come to this.

Perhaps humanism and feeling safe will be of more comfort to the majority in Scotland and England than weapons would be.

Terr- in my observation the average weight of 18" WWll's is about 28 oz. That is also smack dab on the right weight for carrying and usefulness for me.

I have to agree that I love living in a country where the police still patrol without firearms, it just feels safer. Lately though the thugs have started using sharpened screwdrivers and stanley knives as their weapon of choice, as tools these are not covered by legislation. Those who want to carry a weapon will no matter what it is, the city centre is more or less off limits in the evenings to the normal members of the public.

I would rather be attacked by a screwdriver wielder than someone with a bowie knife so the law works in that respect.

MoffB:
I don't understand; you say on one hand criminals won't follow the law and on the other you feel better because you won't be attacked by a Bowie knife, but a screwdriver.

I envy you the former society England enjoyed, where Policemen could go unarmed. I believe that is changing, and your violent crime rate rising. Because of weapons restrictions, home robberies are up; those where residents are actually at home while the crime takes place. They have no weapons to stop the assault.

You are right on the money. The Uk is not as safe as it once was and I have considered emigrating many times over the last few years.

I meant the clever thugs have started to carry sharp screwdrivers rather than knives because of the crackdown here. They are still carrying weapons but what is better than before is they no longer are carrying ' 12" Rambo ' knives. Most obey the letter of the law but not the spirit.

I find my Kali sticks are pretty good against most folk and are within the law.

Got it. Here and there, of course, when a punk wants a firearm he gets one.

What is a Kali Stick? Sounds neat.
See? Bad law makes even good folks move around it- you carry a kali stick.
