Who's the best person to reprofile the edge on my new ZDP Caly Jr?

What angle would recommend? I don't know what would be best. I'm thinking 8 on each side, 16 combined. I also might want a micro bevel. What do you think?

I want to literally slice hairs down the middle with this. This will be my atom splitter.

Thanks.

You might want to send it into Tom Krein, I've seen some fantastic grinds that hes done. He is a member here, send him an email.

I'm sure others would gladly take this opportunity to show off some pics of their Krein'd spydercos!:)

Tom Krein does great work in turning those into full flat grinds. The cutting ability of the knife is MUCH better when you get rid of the Saber grind and get the edge thickness down around .010". If you only want the edge reprofiled to a more acute angle I'd be happy to do it for you with my DMT XX Coarse, and I can refine it with finer stones to a pretty decent edge. The first thing I did with my Endura ZDP (before sending it to Tom Krein) was to rebevel it to 10 per side and polish it up to a .3 micron finish. 8 per side would work fine, but is almost flat to the stone with the factory saber grind. You can microbevel it a little more obtuse than that if you have any microchipping.

I just reread your initial post, and noticed you are just looking for an edge reprofile, not a regrind. Tom could still do a great job for you and will leave a toothy edge. You might consider Dan Koster, or STR from the Maker's section of this forum.

Krein does great regrinds but the edge he puts on is a little too obtuse in my experience.

what's his turnaround on the e-mails? did you e-mail him through the BF form or use a specific address?

it is the holidays, so i'll keep waiting, but it's been a while.
