Today I'm drinking some of my own creation: hard candy (with liquorice powder inside) blended (with blender) to vodka. I made the label for it to give a bit character. It is delicious! Drinking it with beer. I wish everyone a good weekend!

Lagavulin, Distillers' Edition, 1998 Vintage.

About a dollar more than the regular 16YO, and not as tasty, in my opinion.

According to the Interweb, "This limited edition was double matured in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks for a richer, smoother taste." To my taste, it's just more mouth burn, and less smoke and peat, at least when drunk neat. Much improved by a small piece of an ice cube. A little water seems to cut through the burn and let the flavors out.

All in all, very good, but for my money (and about the same amount of my money), Lagavulin 16YO or Laphroaig 18YO is a better dram.

ETA: I just had a sip of Lagavulin 16YO, and it tastes the same to me as the Distillers' Edition. I think a stuffed up head has thrown my taste off. So as Emily Litella used to say... Never mind.

It sounds like you've invented/discovered the Sambuca Boilermaker.
