I just posted in the other thread saying that I have too many knifes in the queue at the moment. I have both size Moki fish owls in the mail currently and a Chamblin on order for March delivery. I need another knife like I need a hole in my head.
I enjoy GEC because I believe they're the best maker of the times but part of what holds me back on a lot of their models is that I find them to be too cumbersome, over thought, or that a lot of their handle materials just don't appeal to me much. As much as I'd like to see them offer more micarta varieties or possibly yellow delrin, I also happen to be a sucker for nice bone.
The viper is a simplistic model... It's not too big and not too small, plenty pocketable, and certainly not over-thought. The lines are right and the swedge is attractive. The lanyard hole doesn't distract from the model whatsoever and is a practical, at least from my vantage point, as I like to secure my knives with a makeshift quick release to avoid potential loss. Add the fact the burnt sienna bone is drool-worthy, and three drams of scotch later, I bought it.
