I searched through the threads and found old ones for both the 47 viper and some farm and field threads that segued into the Hay'n Helper but never one that put two and two together.

-As some of you may know, reserves came in for the 47 Viper and finally an old friend of the farm and field, the 71 Bullnose and the Hayn' Helper, both in pruner, hawksbill, single and 2 blade sheepsfoot with a pen blade secondary. :D *finally!*

I was wondering what those of you that have one (they seem to never come up) think of the hay'n helper in the single or double blade variety and how they measure up to the vipers or the other farm and field series in terms of fit and finish. How thick they are in hand, versatility and your overall impressions with duration of use.

I had the sheepsfoot F&F and regret letting it go. Definitely excited that there's a new run coming.

The 2 blade version is was a little thick for my liking though. I wish the covers were a bit thinner. The single blade is awesome.

That's exactly what I was wondering jrtodd, definitely solidifies me for a single blade variety now. Love the cover materials provided though. Did you find the fit and finish to be just as good as the 71's or 21's? Their farm and field fit and finish always knocks it out of the park.

Yea they had great fit and finish. The 01 patinas nicely, but this new run might be 1095. Either way I'm looking forward to getting the two micarta options.

Did you have a knifebrite? The knifebrite covers on my bullnose are thinner than on the orange delrin.

Where'd you see/figure that. A main selling point for me was to have 01 on these farm and field versions. Nevertheless the frame entices me enough to want one.

Good to know guys. I'm definitely looking forward to the single blade in black micarta for the Hayn' Helper. Now.....do I need a Bullnose as well!? I haven't had either pattern so it might be wise to try them both lol.

Getting my first Viper also...hopefully the OT schedule is posted when I get to work today!

It's only me figuring, no facts behind it. I was going off the last 71's and the 21's being 1095.

Ah well that's a slight bummer but I enjoy 1095 all the less. It really was more so getting to see canvas micarta being used again on the 71's.

I like how all the options for the viper are 'unknown'. All in due time I guess :D

Love my Viper in rosewood...looked at the GEC site and could not find any info. can some one point me the way if ok on this thread?thanks

Yeahhh...put my name down for a natcan 71 bullnose and a 2-blade green canvas 47. Those were some older patterns I regret letting go. Even if these are 'only' 1095, GEC does a great job heat treating it and I love the combination of micarta and all-steel construction.

I'm always on the in between a two blade and single blade. But considering I use my vipers currently as 'farm outdoor work knives' I think a two blade variation difference might be calling my name.

The two blade has a nice sized pen blade. If I used the pens more I wouldn't hesitate to snag a two blade.

Anytime Steve :D, and likewise jrtodd46. I rarely use my pen for anything that my main blade couldn't. I could see how like the TC Spey 2 blades, one has more of slicer blade shape whereas the pen would be used for fine detail work.

Happy to see another run of Bullnoses and this run most likely in 1095, I'll have to add one of each to the collection! I like the addition of the Black Micarta, wish there would have been a run of some other different handles like Sunbrite or other but I'll take whatever they'll give!

I just told my wife last night that I couldn't wait for the new bullnose run to come around and today there it was! I committed to three today, but...I also went in for three of the single blade hay'n helpers and one of the vipers ...it's safe to say my knife budget is fully accounted for this year.

Right Shawn? I went for..2 bullnoses now, one viper and one hayn' helper. That with the spearpoints in October..and the soda scout...and a possible custom order.
GEC is just killing it. In a very very good way. I think I posted in 'let's talk GEC' a month ago' how I would love to see the vipers, 71's, and hayn' helpers make a comeback and lo and behold.
