If you want to see a forging demonstration that is the place to be. There will probably be 10 or more forges going at the same time. The participants vary from those just learning to accomplished blade smiths that really make it look easy. Don't go prepared to just watch, go prepared to participate and learn. There will be a table of knives on display and for sale too. It is as friendly a group of blade smiths as you will find anywhere. Introduce your self to Carl Rechsteiner and he will hook you on forging for life. He will likely set you up with someone to give you a chance to do it yourself. I won't be able to make it this time, but if I was going, I would be glad to walk you through it myself. Carry a pair of safety glasses, a leather shop apron, wear boots and jeans, and a pair of gloves. You should have all that stuff if you make knives anyway. Have a good time. If you go, I'll bet it won't be the last time you make the trip.
