Who's going back to more traditional style folders?

Actually, from the "tone" of this thread, it seems that it is high time to start carrying NOTHING but machetes and kerambits.

And SNAP them open all during church or the PTA meeting.

Maybe even HONE em on the bus or subway.

Or slice slivers off paper edges all day at the office.

Might even be time to get a small THROWING knife for the break room.

Pretty soon we are gonna have a forum for which brand of cello wrapped plastic utensils are the most politically correct to open in public.

We might even get to the point where nobody gets excited until someone gets cut or stabbed. This is ridiculous.

Where's my kris?

:barf: :D

Don't get me wrong I still carry and use my tacticals, it's just that I've been getting into the more traditional styles and it's easy to find a quality slipjoint with stag, horn, pearl, or other natural scale material. A well made slipjoint walks and talks, this is something modern tacticals don't do, I hear people say how smooth it opens, it glides like silk, but it ain't got that walk or talk that was common to knives in the 40s and 50s.

You don't always need a 4 1/2" tactical auto/assisted opener to open mail.

I find myself scaling back on the size of the knives I carry. My small Sebenzas are my "big" knives. I find that a 2.5" - 2.75" blade to be near perfect for my daily uses. The V-nox Settler, Case mini Copperlock, and CRK Mnandi are the ones seeing the most pocket time. The top two knives on my want list are the William Henry T-10 and the Lone Wolf Loveless City Knife. These smaller knives may see more use than my Sebbies, but they will never replace them entirely.

My primary EDC has been a Lone Wolf City Knife since Christmas. The craftsmanship of the knife is simply extraordinary. It's about all I need during the winter months. I'm sure that the Spyderco Military will take a more prominent position in my pocket once spring arrives.

I can't speak for anyone else, but the point I was trying to make is that I have _never_ opened a knife in public - whether it's my Case Baby Butterbean or my REKAT Sifu - after consciously thinking about _how_ I'm going to open it.

I've started to move from tactical folders to slipjoints, etc. because they're just more interesting to me. Has nothing to do with trying to be politically correct. :)

of why I carry what I do. The reason I like my trapper is because the thin carbon steel blades cut like no tac folder I've owned. I also find the spey blade useful for opening the CalOvernight bags. I like my SAK because I can clean my nails, open a can, tighten a screw and cut an apple. The Arclite and Prairie Fox have replaced my tac folders and they're plenty big for office work.
