Who's going to be at the Guild Show next week?

I will be there in a few hours. Looking forward to meeting you guys in person.

I was able to attend the show for a couple hours Saturday morning. I had a great time seeing makers I had met and meeting new ones. The knives available were varied and there was something for just about anyone. Each maker I visited with were very nice and willing to talk. Earlier in the thread Charles posted a great fighter that I was just itching to see. When I got to Charles' table he was very much the gentleman, however I had missed seeing the Big Bear because it was with its new owner. I looked over the other offerings on his table, all of which were beauties. We chatted a few minutes when Charles said he would see if he could get the knife back for my viewing pleasure. True to his word he got the knife back for me to look at. While the picture post shows this knife to be outstanding there is nothing like holding one to truly appreciate it. All I can say is this knife and the visit with Charles made the trip for me. THANKS Charles, your a true gentleman.

Chris

This is Chris visiting with the Vestals.

I believe this is the fighter in question, courtesy of Mr. Cooper. I got to touch it :) My table was right behind Charles.

I had a decent show. Sold 3 blades, which I figure is pretty good for the new guy on the back row. I met a bunch of cool folks, and saw a few old friends. I got to handle a couple of Don Hanson knives, and saw a knife that sold for 32K!

As far as the guild goes, there are some changes coming. Mr. Gene Baskett was elected president, and Charlie Matthews and Jerry Moen were elected to the board. Congrats to the new directors! Change is tough, but everyone I talked to seemed to be optimistic and positive about the future of the Guild.

It was good to see you again Jason. I am glad you had a good show. Did that little ivory knife sell? I sure liked the colors in the ivory. You had a very nice selection.

Chris

Thanks, Chris. That little ivory knife did sell, and it was the story that was the tipping point. I bet I told that story of us all meeting at Cracker Barrel at least 100 times. The guy who bought it also bought another, but he wasn't going to buy them both until the story was told :)

I talked to that guy, didn't know he was a samurai or that he went by "pootsie". Nice fella, from Belfast, Ireland.

That was Charlie that got elected to the Board of Directors of the Guild. People get us mixed up all the time. I think I'm going to have to learn a bunch more about what is going on in the Guild. Must have had 20 people congratulate me for getting elected and ask me questions about the Guild...but it is Charlie with the purple ribbon on his name badge. Mine is just blue like everyone else's.

No problem Jason! I answer to Charlie about as much as I answer to Harry.

Congrats on your probationary status! It looked like an impressive group of makers this year coming in as probationary members. I hope to see everyone back up against that wall being introduced as new voting members in two years.

Chris

It was a pleasure meeting and being able to talk with you for a little while Chris, and it's always nice seeing Lin again.

We had a great time at the show, many of the regulars on Blade Forums stoped by our table and it was nice to put faces with names.

Take care

Charles

I got to handle the Vestal Fighter as well and I was absolutely amazed at the beauty. I do not think I have ever seen a knife before that was so immaculately put together.
Congrats on the Best Fighter Award Charles, very well deserved.
It was also a pleasure to get to meet and talk to Jason Fry.
It was a good time.

Congratulations to Charlie Mathews on his election to the Board of Directors of the Guild.

Doug

If you would like to see some of the knives that were on the tables The Knifemakers Guild's Facebook page has a bunch of photos from the show .

Take care

Charles

Jason, it was nice meeting you at the show. I'll be looking forward to seeing slipjoints in your future!

Mark

Nice meeting you as well, Mark. I've done 14 slipjoints. By the time I'm back next year, or for sure two years from now if I don't go next year, I'll have some that are guild-table worthy.

I really enjoyed the show. It was great meeting Lin again. He showed me his great shop and historical pieces in Little Rock.
Was great meeting Chris and Jason you had some great knives; love that lil coffin handled one. Pity I only had so much with me cash wise.
