Whos got Altoid Tins ??

Slightly off topic buit in the neighorhood:

>Water pipe and friction-fit caps with small hope drilled in one cap. Fit snug enough to work.

>All sorts of inexpensive tea comes in metal cans with snug lids. Double dip if you drink tea. If not, cultivate friends who do.

>Aluminum foil can shim up cough drop (and other) tins so they work.

>Old metal salt shaker with a circular piece of tin to mostly block off the holes

Very clever! I am going to have to try that. Been wondering what kind of system to take with me into the backcountry so I can touch up my convex edges. Thanks, AustinTX!

Sorry.

Alternatives to Altoids tins. I regularly have to come up with cotton cookers.

And that is a slick system.

Hey Normark,

My wife uses these small Nivea creme containers (you might remember the size from my PSK post, with the PJ injector.) They would be a perfect size for what you're proposing, all you have to do is find a few ladies who use the stuff. Other options are shoe polish tins, Dubbin tins (hockey players?). Another thing to include would be fire straws (I don't know if this has already been mentioned.).

Normark I hae at least o Dozen That I was saving for part of a geocache I never Put together, If you still need any, I have them. :D

My rescue Squad just Made a bunch of ziplock bag first aid kits for a local troop. I dont know what the Fire/Ems system is like in your area but they might be a handy resource for first aid gear/training for your troop.

The EMS guys/gals in our area are always donating time and gear for one reason or another, but I havn't heard of them making up FAKs for local groups like the scouts. Guess I'll have to talk to the BIL, cause that's an excellent idea.

Hey Guys...

Doc..

good idea.. I'll have to ask around..

EMSGUY and Longbow...

Ya I'll take as many as I can get, as I'm sure my other leaders would like to build some as well for their Cubs...

I'm constantly looking for tins as I often make fire kits to give away..

I think I've made about 8 different kits this year that I've given away to different people including a few kids on the forums...

I made this young fellow a really nice PSK out of a Rocky hip pack and included a pretty extensive fir kit...

I'll take whatever you guys have if your willing to send them..

Thanks

Eric
