who's having problems with priotry mail

I have mixed feelings about Priority Mail and UPS. I use the green 35 cent delivery confirmation slips and "official" USPS Priority Mail boxes...which I tape shut to prevent those accidental "Oops, the end came open and the knife must have fallen out somewhere" postal excuses. Generally, delivery is within 3 to 5 days instead of 2 t o 3, but... I sent a knife to Holland and one to N J on the same day. Used my non-descript name and home address and nothing to really indicate what was in the packages except for honesty on the customs slip. The one with Knife on the slip arrived in Holland in 5 days. The "unmarked" one to NJ disappeared for 2 weeks and then the customer received a notice from the postal inspector that the package had been "rifled" and that there was a suspect in custody......and the package was being held as evidence. We have yet to find out if the knife is still there, or just the Priority Mail box! Glad they caught the guy...sorry it took them so long to let us know, since we were trying to run traces from both ends for several days before the buyer was notified. I was told at my end that "It won't do any good, but I guess I will run a trace anyway."
Now for UPS!!! Our drivers are really nice guys. They are friendly and chat up a storm as they hand you packages to deliver for them because they don't want to drive to the neighbor's! They leave packages at a store 6 miles away...because they are in a hurry...and then call to see if it is ok. Some packages have taken 3 weeks to go across two states. I have had more crushed or mangled packages thruogh UPS than through the Postal Service...and they mangle enough.

Thanks guys!

I have sent many packages through usps with no problems. I am waiting for a knife that someone sent to me 8 days ago...Delivery confirmation says "in transit". Wait some more...

The first knife was probably used to cut stuff.

I've had problems at one time or another with USPS, UPS, and FEDEX. You're flipping a coin really on what's going to happen. Completely unpredictable, IMHO. They're all sausage factories

Guess I'm luckier than most.

My postal delivery woman, always brings all our mail up to our porch, if a package is too large for the box. She is amazingly friendly and helpful.

Our regular UPS driver always waits for our dog to find a tennis ball and throws it once for her.

In the last 2-3 years, between my wife and I have probably had 200 plus packages delivered to our house without a serious problem. One knife box looked like hell, but the knife was fine.

Wish those of you with problems much better luck in the future.

I have had zero problems with either UPS or USPS until this thread came up. Two separate packages shipped Priority that should have been here Thursday and Friday, respectively, failed to show, and didn't get here Saturday, either. Maybe today...
Personally, I'm blaming this thread
