Who's in their 40's?

I don't remember the year, but I took my kids to see KISS, with Judas Priest being the opening act! That was in Chicago --- a loooong time ago!:o

I was born in 1966. First concert was Van Halen in 1982. Ozzy was second followed by Kiss soon after. I lived the hair band days as well and saw most of them in the 1980''s I still have a extensive collection of hair band cd's but can't remember the last time I played any of them.

Like the song sayes "You can't kill Rock n Roll it's here to stay". I was of the hard rock heavy metal scene and nothing today even comes close to Van Halen with David Lee, Ozzy, Judas Priest, or most music of that whole era. Luckily my 15 year old son does not listen to any of today's pop music. He listens only to classic rock, metal, and some new metal. There is one modern rock metal band he likes that is worth listening to, try Black Tide. They rock!

That's what I'm talking about!

Is your avatar a Molly Hatchet album cover?

I wish I was still in my 40's!

I am past the half century mark and my musical tastes reflect it. :D

Last night, the wife and I went to see Motley Crue and Poison. We're 80's kids and thought a little nostalgic trip back to our rotten youth would be a blast. We listended to Rob Stanley's CD enroute and got to decompress from all the stress. Brought back a lot of memories and caused me to wonder how many other X generation HOGS reside here that still consider themselves Metal Heads, regardless how responsibilities changed your priorities the last 30 years.

Happy Independence Day All!

Oh mate that is so cool!!! I'm not quite in my 40s yet - 1972 - but I am a metal head! Throughout my childhood it was Kiss all the way. Then in the mid 80s it was Metallica and Iron Maiden. Still love those bands, but now it's more progressive stuff like Opeth, Dream Theater etc... Anything with cool guitar in it :)

'66.....my KISS years were in the mid 70's. Even at 10 I thought their posters were so cool. Listened to some Uncle Ted and Boston then too.

The 80's were filled with Van Halen, Def Leppard, MJ, Quiet Riot.

Wow things have changed. Music is still a huge part of my life...

Guilty as charged...

Seen the Crüe a few times, Poison too. Also have seen Ratt, Whitesnake, OZZY a few times, Metallica several times, Aerosmith, Joan Jett, Accept, Dio, Savatage, Queensryche, AC/DC... and a few other shows less remembered due to...uh... excessive "partying". ;)

The first and loudest show I ever saw... Judas Priest. My ears still ring. :D
Definitely caught some hearing loss on that one.

Never limiting myself to just one type of music, I've also seen the Grateful Dead a handful of times, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Pat Benatar, The Clash, and The Charlie Daniels Band. Caught the Cranberries in the late 90's on a whim once, and was surprised that it was one of the best shows I saw. Never figured that would be the case.

yup, them was the days, 1959, just after Guy, got to see some of the early ones, Boston, YES in the Round, Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, Aerosomith in the 70's and 00's, Mother's Finest--there is one that is almost forgotten along with Jim Dandy and Black Oak Arkansas, Nugent, ACDC talk about hearing loss. One of my favorites was Atlanta Rhythm Section, got to see Kansas and at the end of the Concert, tear gas was exploded in front of the stage to disperse the crowd, that was a real happy moment, fun times had and not forgotten. If you ever get a chance to see Kid Rock, he always does a killer show.

Aerosmith or Bad Company was my first "real" concert
(ya,too much of that generic whacky tabacky back then that I dont remember)

but my first concert
me and my friend were required to take our younger sisters to their
favorite band before we were allowed to see ours....
so....

Man you guys are bringing back memories.

My sister is 10 years older than I, and a teen when I was a kid. She took me with her everywhere! I remember sitting in the back of her Aztec brown '70 Cutlass listening to the Doobies, Three Dog Night and Santana! Man, those were the days, walkin' down the block...summertime in the old neighborhood, playing frisbee at the park. I thought I was so..."cool"... hanging out with my sister and her "older" friends.

Biggest concert regret was never seeing Metallica. I enjoyed the time with Uncle Ted as some of you Old Guard know about. Can't leave out the Motor City Madman in this thread.

Great responses guys, thanks for helping bring back some incredible memories.

1968 for me… been to a few concerts listed already, but my favorite was Stevie Ray Vaughan on the beach, Padre Island, TX.

This was one of my all time favorite times. I was 18 years old and Brothers this was a hoot!!!
On Labor Day in 1974, a show at Austin's Texas Memorial Stadium attracted an audience of over 100,000. The concert, named "ZZ Top's First Annual Texas Size Rompin' Stompin' Barn Dance and Bar B.Q.," featured special guests including Santana, Joe Cocker, and Bad Company.

1966 here.

Need little story. When I was 15 (with a work permit), i stuffed papers for a news agency. We worked from about 8pm to 2am inserting flyers into newspapers. We worked out of a little complex with 40x100 warehouse spaces and a little office up front of each one. Probably 20 total between 3 building. The suite next door was a storage place and practice facility for Styx. They would sometimes be next door jamming tunes until the wee hours. Still have all their autographs on a band photo somewhere. They always got free newspapers when they happened to be there!
