I have found a source to get some Brazilian Cherry wood. I could sell 1x1.5x5 blocks for $50 per two set. This wood costs me a lot, so I need to know if I would have sales guaranteed, before I make such a purchase.

Please let me know if you would be interested in buying at least one set of two.

Decided to edit this post so if anyone sees this instead of reading down, I think I could sell the two blocks for $25 shipped.

This is all just thinking of possibly buying. I would have to buy a huge amount. I'll see how much it would cost me to get it all, and come up with a better price.

Okay. I would be able to sell 2 blocks with the dimensions of 1.5" wide, 1" thick, 6" long for $25 shipped. I had to find out what the price for the wood was, and how many pieces I would be able to get from each foot.

Jatoba is 3-5 bucks a board foot at my local place. Its one of my favorite woods for furniture.

It's about 6-8 dollars a board foot here, but the sizes are huge, and hard to work with, so I would spend lots of labor cutting the boards.

Atlanta is blessed with excellent wood dealers.

Indiana... Not so much. But hey, We got corn! (And soybeans in the off-corn years)

Sounds interesting but I'm pretty-well stocked on handle materials right now. Hope it works out for you!

Mike, from the looks of this thread I'm not sure it is going to be worth your while but if so, as former Hoosier I would definately get some blocks from you.

Yeah. What I can probably do, is sell sets of two 3/4" thick scales, for $10 shipped. The scales would not line up, though. They would be adjacent to eachother from the original board.

Ummm, we'd probably be interested in seeing pics of these blocks of wood.

Hello:

Woodcrafter supply has brazilian cherry turning stock that's like 2" Sq by 24" for like I think $10.00.....Dr. Jim turned me on to turning sqaures as a source of some really neat woods...

Ditto that. I've been able to get some amazing looking scales and blocks in madrone, leopardwood, and others from turning blanks.
