WHO'S IS BEST Fighter carry systems

Darrel,

IMHO, James Piorek of JSP BLaderigger makes the BEST carry systems. The comfort & concealability factors are SWEET! I carry IWB "static-cord", Execulite shoulder harness, Spinal Back-up 3 harness, Horizontal belt sleeve, ect. I can comfortably conceal a Dozier/Keating Crossada on my back. OAL 17". That one is for "SPECIAL" occasions...

All the above systems work well & you can modify them for your own personal needs. Generally when I wear a harness, it will house a 10" or 7" Jashido. Wearing these, under a light untucked shirt, sweatshirt, or jacket provides DEEP CONCEALMENT, COMFORT, RAPID DEPLOYMENT & EASE of carry. Now all I need is to get some sheaths made for a couple of RJ's blades, & pick up one of yours in the near future...

Movement to nominate James Piorek is enthusiastically seconded.

Mr. Ralph,

Here's another vote for James Piorek! Hey, anyone who can make a harness for a titanium stick that can fit inside my semi-tight 501 jeans, concealed and comfortable, has to be pretty darn GOOD.

Mr. Ralph,

Yet another nomination for James Piorek. I see my buddies Alan and Attila beat me to the punch.

I carry both using a dual Execulite rig (one knife in a shoulder harness under each arm), horizontal belt sleeve, as well as the spinal back-up. On my shirts page you can see a picture of me, using James' rigs, carrying 2 11" OAL figthers, one 17" OAL fighter, and a bunch of other stuff easily concealed.

I've compared James' stuff to other makers, and his is consistently the most comfortable and the most versatile (as well as the most secure).

Howdy- Mr Ralph- thanx for considering the opinions of the rank & file here- Granted, Bladerigger stuff is pretty much state-of-the-art in carry rigs- but for those of us who can't light $35.00 cigars with $100.00 bills- a GOOD (read: "adjustable") IWB/multi-carry system that doesn't print like you're smuggling the Manhattan Yellow Pages & doesn't cut into the leg/hip too badly.

Mike

bud nealy. i have the boker copy and it is great. i the copy is good the real thing has got to be out of their world.

Darrel,
Here is one of my multi-position sheaths in Brown Kydex. By changing two screws it it can be carried horizontal cross draw, right side canted forward, middle of back. By adding a smaller loop, IWB is quite comfortable.

This has become my standard sheath design for Kydex.

Darrel, from my experience that usually depends on the size of the knife. Lately, most of my "average" size knives have been going into IMB sheaths, sometimes with multi-carry options for various belt positions built into the sheath.

Waxy makes mine of course.

Darrell, I agree w/Jerry Hossom regarding the size of the knife being a major factor but I'll add that it also depends on the attire being worn. For example...

[*] I have a Dundee rig made by Stellar Knife for an Ontario/Bagwell Hell's Belle. I'm a big guy & it does a great job of concealing the knife under a light hip-length bush jacket or untucked loose denim shirt.

[*] My favorite carry method for Bud Nealy's MCS systems is inverted, using one of the paddles, in an inside jacket pocket.

The problem I have with such dedicated carry systems is that I am not always wearing clothing that can accomodate them. By far, my most common method of carrying a fixed blade is IWB w/loop to secure the sheath to the belt. An adjustable/removable belt platform, such as Neil illustrated, provides flexibility to carry the piece on the belt as desired. Here's my Bauchop Utility Cat in such a rig, my favorite, an IWB/MCS from Mike Sastre:

The clip you see next to the sheath allows for vertical or 45 degree cross-draw carry. The belt loop utilizes a lift-the-dot type snap fastener that allows for the rig to be put on & taken off w/o undoing the belt. IMO, an important feature.

Good luck w/designing your carry system. Please let us know what you come up with.

Darrel and Brian,
On MANY occaisions I have customers return their knives for a second and even a third sheath!! Often they will want a SEPARATE IWB sheath to go along with their neck sheath. OR.... a separate neck sheath that is smaller overall than the multi-position sheath. OR..... just a second position sheath so they dont have to F#$T(fart) around with removing the chicago screws!!
Of course I suggest that a second or third KNIFE would make all this much easier

I like the sheathes Al Polkowski uses. They are all IWB, minimal size, thin material, easy to clip on or off. I like small fixed blade knives, but carry pocket-clip folders most of the time. I think IWB belt carry is the best. Otherwise, the Bud Nealy inverted carry, in a inside coat pocket is very good.

I can't wait to see your new fixed blade. Your new D/A Apogee is very, very nice.

Cheers,
Damon

I do believe that the newest class of United States nuclear aircraft carriers are the best fighter carry system available in the world. A second choice might be the mini carrier the Brits produce for the Hawker's though...depends on your concealability needs and national finances!
