Who's mark is this?

Yep, got my Vim Chit Bowie on my hip today. The signature is pretty much identical:) Handling my Boomerang AK last night, I think Vim tends to put a little more emphasis on the junction where the blade's edge meets the cho. That little dippy-do area is the same on my AK. Most every other HI khuk I have doesn't have the edge actually dip "lower" than the inner prong of the cho.

That's one of my favorite things about the cho, it's so personal to every kami. I've got some with a wide cho kinda slopped in there, I've got them where it looks almost machine cut, I've got them super narrow, super deep, and everywhere in between:)

There was another kami before Kesar who used the flag, too. I can't remember his name, but there was a forumite referred to as "the duck" who was fanatical about his blades. I have a couple of them myself. Those earlier flags were slightly different; the lower edges were horizontal, making two right triangles, versus the isosceles triangles of Kesar and Vim.

Anyhow, glad you got this question sorted out!

Durba.

I believe your dui chirra are made by Vim Kami.

The only kamis to use this mark were Durba and Vim.
I will ask Auntie to confirm by reading the Kami Initials. The Initials look plenty similar enough that i'm pretty sure though.
As with everything there are minor variations when the initials are applied, because it is difficult to spell with a chisel.

i have this little paragraph in my list of khukris file:

Weird how threads about "old" kamis and HI pieces crop up and link up with occurrences in life. The day before Bladeite posts his list I stumble across an old JKM-1 under the work bench in the warehouse. It's old enough that I modded a choil into it by hand before I had power tools, so it's at least 8 years old. I hadn't looked it up yet, but I see that it's a Murali-made piece:)

I'm going to give a short write up on it later if I get a few minutes. Neat find:)

my list is based upon what i have [had] in my collection and tweaked for my needs...

don't have too many new ones, knives or kamis apparently

it's small enough i figured throwing it out there would excite the search engines if nothing else.
