Who's not going to Blade?

Not me I`m sorry to say have to work :( The sad
part is I now live only about 3hrs drive from there

Me neither. Been making knives for 14 years and dreaming of going to Blade 14 years. Always hits right in the middle of haying season. Oh well, maybe sometime before I die :p

God Bless!

Craig, I'd sure like to get my hay cut now but if its done withing a month I'd be happy. Fortunatly my cows are used to over rip hay. Glad I only have 3 acres to get done but since I don't have the equipment I have to wait. The weather is also a big factor here...

I unfortunately won't be there this year. After the horrible two weeks I've just had with a family emergency, we just found out yesterday that my wife will have to have surgery, so we're saving our money for the upcoming bills...just canceled the hotel reservations today. I'll miss seeing everyone at their tables and hanging out afterward. Hope everyone has a great time, and hope to see you there next year! ...hopefully by then, we'll be far enough up on the waiting list that we'll actually get a table too! :)

-Darren

Sorry to hear that Darren
Best of luck to your wife, we'll be thinking of you guys.

Not getting any hay baled here either. The farm I work for has about 50 acres we get as many cuttings off of as we can. I think the standing water is just starting to go away. The forecast for storms coming in has been in hours instead of days lately :grumpy:

Darren, Wish you and your wife the best!

Matt, I saw some hay baled up in the middle of April. I tell you I did a double take. Your really lucky if you can get it done here by the middle of June. I'm going to cut down to 3 cows and Clinton in a few months. I'm tired of cows....

I've been working for this farm coming up on 7 years now. There have been times we'd start baling hay in the last week of may. Last year we finished the first field of hay and then baled straw the next day (July 6th IIRC), finished hay after that was done (130 acres). We haul hay and straw into a local racetrack through the fall/winter.
Are you raising the cows for beef? Only reason I'd want cattle around here is to chase them with my horses. Would like to try some roping, cutting, and reined cow horse. Would much rather have someone with a herd a mile away where I could just show up to help/play whenever I felt like. Doesn't seem like near as much fun if chasing them is a daily chore :)

Not I Ray. Maybe some day. I would love to just go as a common tourista and hang out on the aisle side and bug folks. "who makes your blades? " "gee, I can buy that at Walmart." :footinmou ;)

Matt, Just beef cows. I couldn't imagine doing the others.....

Richard, I haven't heard that Walmart line at a pure knife show but have at a gun/knife show.

Blade is too far away for my budget, but I have a table at the NM Gun Collectors Association show in Albuquerque this weekend.

Steve, The distance to the show is a major problem for alot of us. The only way I'd go to the show is if I had a table.

:grumpy: WAAAAA!. Here is my sad tale. For my 50th Birthday my gift from the Mrs. was a Blade Show trip for 2. A month ago I quit my A&P mechanic job and started working for the wife. We decided now is a bad time to spend. Well, last night i was perusing the airline sites and mentioned they must have a good stand-by fare or some other deal. The wife said look and see and I could go alone. I've heard that line before. I looked but no good deals. Lucky for me! At 11am this morning I apparently got a kidney stone attack and was sweating like a pig and puking. That would have really spoiled a good knife show trip. NEXT YEAR boys!!
