Who's the Hardest !

It's amazing how Bear never gets hurt(possibly too amazing!);Myke Hawk pretty convincingly tough
;Les does say" ow!!"sometimes?? ;Ray extremely affable;Dave &Cody you almost never see them preparing to sleep in their environments. My vote would have to go to.................Myke Hawke

There are many others that certainly know their survival stuff and live it through their adventures but aren't considered survival experts, two that come to mind are Lars Monsen and Ranulph Fiennes !

Regarding Les Stroud lets not forget he spent a year in the Wabakimi wilderness with his wife before rising to fame as Survivor man....he's put in his dirt time !!!

Hawkes batman voice makes me cringe,

LOL, I wonder if it's something they teach them. I've got a friend that's been in the military for about 25 at this point, and has been in and around some of the SF stuff, and I swear he talks just like Hawkes does at times!! :D

He actually has, you just don't see it on the show.

In 2008 he got hurt pretty bad in Antarctica and last year in Canada a sled mounted camera hit him hard enough that he was airlifted out

I watched that episode ... and thought it was a wasted opportunity , he coulda showed us how to survive when injured but no , he showed us how to use a back up crew to whimp out .

G'day Pit

I never said Dave was ' Special forces ' just that he was in the forces ?

With what Dave did with the gunpowder on the wound I'd say he was ' special neeeds ' but I still think it would make for an entertaining show !;)

As someone who has spent many years educating kids with "special needs" (ie those who have been genuinely diagnosed by medical specialists as being emotionally disturbed and having "special needs"), I've got to agree.

Probably more to the point, IMO those who believe what they have seen on TV (just because of the "supposed" credentials of the presenters and the fact that it has appeared on TV) are in need of "special help".

Bear may be a bit of a goose but he may be OK after all

A guy from Tamworth , a bit north of me , won a challenge and is going to have a sail boat race or something on Sydney Harbor against bear .

Les Stroud goes it alone, no support crew. That gets him the nod from me.

No he doesn't, he always has a sat-phone with him and an emergency support crew on standby.

He even had to call a helicopter in one arctic episode, not only to rescue him, but his own ground crew got stranded on some ice and they evac'd them and left their snow machines behind.

Okay, fine...I'm the most hard-core one there is.
I'm so hard core they won't even put me on television.

My fault for lack of clarity here. I refer to the camera crew. Everything he does, he does twice, while lugging all that extra gear.

They could never film a "wilderness" show with you Stabman, when you show up the "wilderness" instantly concedes and tames itself. :D

They're all better than me. If I was going into an area where I thought that it was going to get ugly, I'd want Hawke around. Anything other than that, I think that Cody would be the guy. I've got 98.6 Degrees and When All Hell Breaks Loose and think they are two of the finest books of their genre I have read. I like Les too, but I'm a lot more familiar with Cody due to the books, the show, and his website.

When the show first came out (and watching his youtube stuff) I thought that Dave was pretty good, but it seems that his success has really gone to his head. One of his things used to be gear for the common man, stuff easily found in local stores and at good prices. Down to earth gear, IMO. Now it's $250 knives and $150 pants and other stuff like that.

I have to admit that I like Bear too. I think he'd probably be the most fun to have around, honestly.
