Sure, his non-threatening avatar may throw you, but if you examine the cut end of the flower he's holding, you could see the manner in which a khuk was used to sever it on one perfect, effortless cut. (At that point, you should hand Bruise back the flower, and tiptoe backwards outta the room, cause you jest made him mad.)
