I hope this isn't 'improper' but I was searching the forums for Brute De Forge knives and I found this picture of this knife and was blown away by it. Does anybody know whose it is? And also... how to achieve that rusty patina? I'm assuming folks will say... just let it rust. But how is that controlled and preserved?

yeah... I think you are right. I just went to his site. Looks like that isn't 'rust'! Forged copper highlights. Anybody know anything about this process? Probably out of my scope right now, but I'm inspired.

John Cohea works in that style also.

Almost positive it's a Daniel Winkler knife with a Karen Shook(sp.?) sheath. I'm also curious about those "forged copper highlights". They really set off an already spectacular package.

I'm thinking that the copper is actually wrapped around the back of the knife? Interesting.

I've been doing some searching on copper highlighting and apparently it's used by master blacksmiths to highlight various pieces of work... but I can't find anything on how to do it. Obviously a type of forge welding... but is flux necessary? What temperatures? Can ya just heat up some copper and beat it into a hot blade?
