in today's day and age there are manufacturers that use steals like VG 10 and AST 34 which are stainless and seem to have characteristics fairly similar to tool steals yet even when they make other models of these steals they also use tool steals in some of their models I'm curious in particular because I got a seki-cut folding Bob Lum and counter this company makes models even Bob Lum and counter models in VG 10 but in case chose to use d2 why might this be as a collector is somewhat interesting to have a different steel to play with it I'm not really talking about drawbacks and strengths more is there a significant advantage that I'm not thinking of I know that's kind of the same thing but I'm just trying to get at why they would do this benchmade seems to do the same thing as well:confused:

I have NO idea if this makes a real difference or not, but tool steels are cheaper to use. Also, a lot of people like them because they're easy to use. Yeah, there's corrosion issues, but still, with minimal care they can do VERY well in the EDC roll. I won't buy a knife in D2, and the only knives in carbon that I own are forged customs, but others are very devoted to carbon steel.
