Cold Steel is considered as one of the leading knife manufacturers but for some reason lots of guys here in the forum hate them. Just like the Leatherneck which they say is a Ka-bar USMC clone but Camilius makes an even closer design to the USMC, so should we hate Camilius too? Also Ontario... Cold Steel knives are quite good but their swords are over priced I have to admit. So where do you guys get all this hate? Just curious.

P.S.
I'm not a die-hard fan of CS Knives but they've never let me down to be honest. And trust me, I do lots of stupid and unnecessary things with my CS Knives and quality isn't an issue.

Hope to hear your thoughts guys. :D:)

And another thing, please don't compare them to Busse Combat. We all know they're the best. ;)

He has a point...have you seen how much meat CS knives can cut!?!?!?!?!? ITS AMAZING.

/obvious sarcasm

A picture is worth a thousand words so here is my essay on the matter:

Hate is a strong word, I think it's more dislike for most than hate when it comes to any company. Of course if you look at the recent Cold Steel tread there's a lot more positive than negative. Anyway, it's all just a difference of opinion, what the user or collector thinks what works best for their needs and wants. There really is no right or wrong.

Why all the Cold Steel threads started by relatively new users?

Is this just an inability to use the search function, or is this shilling by CS itself using straw email accounts?
I link another thread here, but I referring to the dozens or hundreds of threads in the past.

I have some Carbon V knives I bought in the 80's
Good steel, nice basic designs, first-ish to use that grippy rubber grips, made in USA, sturdy knives (even if the edges are to thick - so are Busse and others) and lifetime warranty.

Now you have
Made in China
Lesser or at least different steel.
Reduced warranty
Wacko marketing practices.
An owner that is easy to ridicule.
Higher prices on the items that I consider to be worthwhile- which makes me consider other knives including customs.

It's almost an axiom to question Cold Steel's quality. It's certainly not fair and completely unwarranted in most cases.. Cold Steel makes an affordable product with that is held in high esteem by people who use their knives on a regular basis. I think the high end knives are held to the highest standards and are a cut above a lot of other knives in their price range. The Caledonian Edge is an example. The utilitarian knives like the Bushman and pocket bushman are exceptional knives for a low end price point. The Kudu can be had for about $6.00 and is a wonderful
folder. You'll find lots of positive posts for their tomahawks and machetes too. If you look at the bulk of knives used by soldiers in the middle east, You will find Cold Steel knives
out numbering most companies.

Taiwan is not China. The only people who think it is are ignorant or Chinese
TAIWAN.

That "easy to ridicule owner" donates all the meat from the "wacko marketing practices" to local homeless shelters.
My GOD, throw him in chains!

Well, I don´t own a CS knife til now. But I´m thinking about this. Nice agruments to hear... I think, I´m gonna buy a CS knife and make my own experiences...

Kind regards

If you stick with the under $100 line of products, you'll be happy.:)

Unless you are the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Republic of India, Pakistan and Japan, then officially Taiwan is part of China. Just pointing out the politically obvious.

very few videos are as entertaining as Lynn hacking swinging hogs or rolled up Japanese sleeping mats. :)

Seriously, While some folks may decry CS products, the dang things do work, they are reasonably priced, and provide good value. In today's economy, good value is a good thing. :D

@stabman: thanks for this information... I don´t wanna buy such expensive articles from a company I don´t know, already.

Kind regards :)

Well, I'm in Canada, so Taiwan is not part of China.
And that is the correct way of things.

Yes, marketing aside, CS does put out solid products in the sub-$100 range, which is where the majority of knife consumers choose to buy.
