Why all the hate with cold steel?

I don't hate Cold Steel. Frankly I don't know much about their knives at all and am not really interested in buying any of them. I prefer traditional slippies and fixed blade knives made by the very talented makers who frequent this board. I believe the end product is better and I like the idea of supporting individuals who pour so much into their craft. I already have more knives than I can ever possibly need, so at this point it is just a matter of buying those custom knives I can afford and really want.

To me, Cold Steel is very much like many of the other popular brands: I have no reason to believe they're not good knives, and no interest in ever owning any of them. No hate. I don't even dislike them; they just aren't my cup of tea.

I think I worded that badly. If you live in one of the countries I listed above (the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Republic of India, Pakistan and Japan) then your nation officially recognizes Taiwan as part of China.

Canada doesn't.
Neither does Taiwan, and that's the one which really counts.

Well, it looks like we're both sorta right and sorta wrong as regards Canada's position:
In the case of Canada[17] and the UK, bilateral written agreements state that the two respective parties take note of Beijing's position but do not use the word support.

and this:

However, establishing official diplomatic relations proved to be a complicated task. The official treatment of Taiwan had been a long-standing irritant between China and the western world. China had insisted that countries formally recognize Taiwan as part of Chinese territory, while Canada had maintained that Taiwan should be treated in a parallel fashion. In bilateral negotiations, this issue proved to be a major stumbling block. It took 22 months of negotiations before an agreement was reached. Canada eventually recognized that the PRC made a claim to the island of Taiwan “without either challenging or endorsing” it. Canada and China established formal diplomatic relations in October 1970.

???? Our Navy sits between Taiwan and China to keep China from over reaching. Is that the "unofficial" Navy?

Technically, the Taiwanese consider their government to be the official Chinese government, in exile.

To save everyone some time, I'll just handle the rest of this thread myself.

Cold Steel is awesome. Their knives saved my puppy.

No, Cold Steel sucks. They make stuff in Taiwan, and everyone knows that everything bad comes from outside of America. You're also retarded, so that doesn't help either.

Yeah? Well you've never been in a combat situation. My Cold Steel knife cut through six car doors simultaneously, thereby stopping the Han invasion. You weren't there, so you wouldn't know. If you don't like it, eat my clam.

Oh yeah?! Well you don't know anything about knives or steel or tapioca pudding or anything! Cold Steel rips off all their ideas from other companies. It doesn't matter that other knife companies have stolen designs from one another and implemented them in one way or another as original ideas! Stop trying to interfere with my confirmation bias!

This is the only sensible post in the entire thread. But everyone will ignore me because my comment is buried in the middle of everyone's pointless flame war. Oh well, back to the real world.

Stop eating babies you dumb unadaptable Cold Steel hater!

Stop vivisecting dogs with your stupid Martian-slave labour knives, Cold Steel lapdog!

I am a mod. This thread is done with. Ehhh....I give it two weeks until the next Cold Steel thread shows up.

I wonder why this discussion needs to be brought up yet again. Searching the forums and reading through the threads of ghosts past would be a more beneficial task, at least you would he some previous exposure to the burning topic at hand.

Bah, it's been populated by the Dutch, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and despite some calling for an independent Taiwan.... it's part of China.

It seems like this time the USA is siding with the PRC and PRC says it's against the law to secede.

Maybe some of the knife companies there are using funds to try to separate from China, we could be helping Taiwan gain independence. purchasing main land knives might be helping suppress those in Taiwan who want freedom.

Nutnfancy, who is the best and most knowledgeable reviewer on the internet, loves all Cold Steel knives (every single one of them!) but wants them made by Sanrenmu using super-secret stolen designs and overseen by Lynn Thompson personally in Taiwan, which is part of...ummm...let's see...France!

Now try and get this thread back on track.

I own,

CS American Lawman
CS Recon 1 Tanto (V.1)
CS Kukri Machete
CS Pocket Bushman
5 CS Trailhawks
CS Brooklyn Smasher

Everything I've broke, they have replaced, quickly.
They market over the top, they use other knives for inspiration, they have some great designs, and one of the toughest locks I've ever had the pleasure to try and break.

I don't mind Cold Steel's products a bit. I prefer Beckers, by far, but I could do worse than a Cold Steel.

In Scagel's name, someone please make it all stop....

I'm not exactly sure in which direction your sarcasm is leaning, but taking your first sentence at face value, if anything China is part of Taiwan (Republic of China), since it was the upstart Communist Party of China (People's Republic of China) that exiled the rightful government of China to Taiwan after the Chinese Civil War. So, it was really the PRC that seceded from the ROC.

Cold Steel is considered as one of the leading knife manufacturers but for some reason lots of guys here in the forum hate them. Just like the Leatherneck which they say is a Ka-bar USMC clone but Camilius makes an even closer design to the USMC, so should we hate Camilius too? Also Ontario... Cold Steel knives are quite good but their swords are over priced I have to admit. So where do you guys get all this hate? Just curious.

P.S.
I'm not a die-hard fan of CS Knives but they've never let me down to be honest. And trust me, I do lots of stupid and unnecessary things with my CS Knives and quality isn't an issue.

Hope to hear your thoughts guys. :D:)

And another thing, please don't compare them to Busse Combat. We all know they're the best. ;)

it is obvious why and it is because cold steel rants and raves about them being the best!! knife manufacturer ever but yet they still use aus8 come on cold steel there are way better steels out there now kershaw for one is using 14c28n now which is an amazing steel for the price way better then aus8 pick up your game cold steel then tell use you are the best !!!!!!!!
