Why are autos so expensive?

I agree that you should get a knife for the cool factor. I've spent many a dollar buying knives for no other good reason than I thought it was cool.;)
 
a lot of the price is markup.. at least for importers... When I lived in germany, I was young, and didnt know any better, (I was still into knives, but only knew the more popular, brand named knives at the time) I walked past all the 'old folks' automatics and turned a nose up at em. Little did I know those were really nice hubertuses.. lol. They were 20 bucks man... Theres NO REASON for them to be 100 bucks here... Thats just dumb. Same thing with norway. (again, i walked past the 'non tacticals') those really nice, handmade mora style knives with knarled so and so, or burled so and so handles, were like 40 dollars. theyre like 150 here. Its just markup man. Or maybe import tax? (greed)
