Why are G10 handles so popular?

I thing G10 is very strong - I'm not fond of the texture, but it is fairly inert also. My favorites are carbon fiber and micarta, but G10 isn't a deal breaker if that's all I can get. I really, really dislike natural materials (wood, bone, horn, etc). Living in a dry climate will almost always split natural materials....

I have been pretty comfortable with FRN on my less expensive Spydies. Have a G10 Native that I really like. Have a G10 Dozier that I really like. CF is makes for a nice change, but it is not the end all material for folders. The only Zytel I have is on SOG blades. It's okay, but like FRN feels like plastic and is plastic to me. G10 has a more expensive feel.

Don't care much for Ti or other metal handles on knives..... any knife.

I prefer natural materials if I have a choice especially on fixed blades and traditional knives.

It is all about selling knives and taking more money out of your wallet. It is simple as a that. Variety is the spice of life.
