Why are no custom Bowies Stainless?

I do love A2 as a user steel, but it rusts and stains pretty easily,

JParane, those are some gorgeous knives thanks so much for sharing.

Thanks for the new desktop background!

440C will not Rust and it is a good steel so i guess they use it to preserve some nice blades for long time!

Here's a custom stainless Bowie, in fact, lotsa stainless!

I geuss the title pretty much sums it up.I love the design and looks of classic Bowie knives, and I would love one to keep displayed on my desk, and maybe sum light BBQ duty, however I know that with fingerprints and grease and whatnot, those beutiful clean looks, and Hamons would get marred

not if you care for them correctly.

Truth is I have come full circle. I gave up on the stainless Bowie nonsense. I purchased an Aron Wilburn CustOm Bowie, forged with a spectacular Hamon. Very excited for it.

I've seen a fair few this side of the pond in RWL34.
But as you say, it's either "with Hamon" or Stainless. I don't think you can have both.
Light barbeque duty is unlikely to mar the Hamon, but you do need to care for it a little more than stainless.
Shouldn't be too much of a chore and gives you an excuse to fondle the knife without NKP's thinking you're a nutcase.

Sean Mcwilliams would be one guy to go to if he is still in the business. Forged stainless blades used to be a thing of his.
