Why are single blade patterns so elusive?

I also tried the Case Slimline Trapper in CV. But again, it was a compromise because it is longer than I prefer, not necessarily for carrying but for cutting. Also has no locking blade, and has Delrin scales. I also have a Case mini-Copperlock which is the closest I've found to my ideal EDC. I just don't care for the surgical stainless. I did a post on this a few weeks ago.

It seems I'm always having to make a compromise and never able to hit the bullseye when it comes to finding the perfect knife. On the other hand, I see some custom makers out there crankin' 'em out like hotcakes but at a premium. Maybe my simple specs are just too simplistic and I need to get over it. :(

I only have a pair of CV Copperlocks in yellow but I thought there were some bone handled CV versions as well? You might want to post in the "Knives Wanted" area of the site.

Hey Blues! I might not need to look any further than your avatar. :D I'm sure that one will break the bank for me though.

Chris, actually, Kerry (Knifehead here on the forum) made that beautiful knife for me very recently at a fraction of the price that it is worth (and would cost from most other makers).

If you can stand the thought of waiting for a fine custom knife, you can do worse than to contact gents like him and a few other esteemed makers who make great knives at reasonable prices.

Feel free to email me for suggestions should you become interested.

Great Eastern Cutlery is releasing a Northfield Liner lock with single carbon blade in stag initially. This one is over a 100 but I hear there will be other offerings with much cheaper scales. It's well under 4" closed, about 3.75 I think. One for me to mull over at least, will have to wait a little longer though.

Thanks willgoy...I just noticed GEC is offering several single bladed versions of their #73 in the 2008 lineup. That's news to me. I have a 2 bladed version from 2007 but is a bit too heavy for my taste. Didn't think I'd be buying another #73 but maybe...

I did a shade tree job on an unused RR Barlow to "MAKE" a single blade version.

If you want to see the process look here http://picasaweb.google.com/tomf3x/Knives1 WARNING I am NO KnifeSmith...Just fooling around! And finding another use for the RR knives.

hi, bear cutlery is coming out with a series called 4th generation in 1095 in 1yellow delrin and red stag bone the closest thing to what you want is they will make a 3 inch lockback single bladeor a 2 blade 3 1/4 inch red stag bone trapper, thy also have been making 3 1/2 inch liner locks in bone but with 'high carbon stainless' so maybe bear might work thanks

My search for the perfect traditional EDC has been quite a struggle over the past several months. Maybe I'm too picky but my criteria is quite simple. A 3 1/2" closed, 1095 carbon single locking clip blade, with some nice jigged bone scales for under $80.
.

It looks like Eye Brand either makes or has made a knife that would come pretty close to fitting your criteria. Sooner State Knives had this one in the Eye Brand section of their website (but it's out of stock):

"GENUINE STAG HANDLE SINGLE BLADE SOD BUSTER JUNIOR LOCKBACK, 3 3/4" CLOSED. CARBON STEEL CLIP POINT BLADE. LOCKBACK DESIGN. MADE IN SOLINGEN, GERMANY"

And Smoky Mountain Knife Works shows an Eye Brand Regal lockback with the following specs:

Carbon steel blade
·Genuine stag handle
·Brass liners
·Nickel silver pins and bolsters and shield
·3-5/8" closed
