Why aren't more folders lefty friendly?

Due to the fact that only 7-10% of the population are sinister and given the state of the economy and the relatively small potential market, it is not very cost effective to make a left handed...anything.

Hmmmm.... It must be to some manufacturers. I doubt they take a loss just to satisfy a selected few. But it would seem so only in the higher price ranges. Maybe lefties are richer. I know this one isn't! LOL!

I find that a lot depends on the design of the knife. I can open liner and frame locks okay with my left hand, and I don't really care much about the clip. Lefty clip is always a nice option, though, and ambidextrous opener is an absolute must.

GWashington1732: Then other companies have near zero or absolutely zero of their knives that have reversible clips. I'm about ready to sell all my Leeks and my Spyderco Harpy if I keep thinking about this issue :-/

I don't have an issue with the Leek. I also don't have any problem closing liner or frame locks one handed. I'm not sure I see what the problem is.

Beings I'm a lefty, and being in my right mind, well .....maybe. :D I think its Discrimination against Leftys!

I won't buy a knife that has a righty only clip. I'm with the OP on Kershaw. They have some great looking designs that are totally unusable for me. So I don't buy them. But I guess Kershaw has decided that the cost of drilling for both and putting dual thumbstuds isn't worth the returns. I understand but won't give money to a company that produces right handed only knives

I'm also a lefty but I can handle most right hand framelocks.
But I would love a left handed Sebbie or Umnumzaam someday.

kershaw has made a lefthanded linerlock in the past as has crkt(true lefthanded)

SilverFoxKnows,

Well I know all about being tired and cranky, so you're not in that boat by yourself. :)

Just so everyone knows, the following knives have holes drilled for left hand:

The 1735 (all variations)
1910 R.A.M. (all variations)
1920 Select-Fire
2001 Rogue

ZT 0200 (all variations)
0300 (all variations)
0350
0650ST
0700
0780

Let's not also forget the left handed Shun DM0700 series that we did up.

Please don't ask me how sales were on that line. ;)

Despite the holes taking away from the esthetics of a pieces, or that it makes little sense to me (I get an opinion right?), to put a lefty clip with a righty lock, we'll try to be more aware of drilling clip holes for lefty users in the future.

We do show the love IMO. Over the last few years we have brought on a gang of flippers that lefties can have their way with.

Lock's and clip are different stories. I guess it never made too much sense to me, putting a lefty clip on a righty lock. Maybe I'm not seeing this clearly?

I don't seem to have much trouble manipulating liner locks left handed.
(I am right handed though)

Another use for left hand clips is us crazy people who carry multiple knives at once.
It allows for carry in the left hand pocket, as well as to orient the knife properly in the right rear pocket or along the front seam of the right front pocket (especially good for waved knives).
