Why assisted opening?

I just think AO's are Cool and fun to own.

I have never used one as an EDC.
 
After I lost my buck executive (the knife that got me carrying again) I looked to replace it at my local knife shop. Sadly they buck wasnt for sale anymore so I looked for other knives. I came accross the kershaw chive. Thought the ao was really cool so i decided to get the knive. I carried it but it kept opening on my while in my pocket. The problem with me is i often carry other crap in my pocket so i think i hit it when i put stuff in and out. It gave me a pretty good poke so i decided to give it up. I switched to bm and a bigger knives at this point and carry benchmades now--mainly my 710
