Why does CRK use blue for standard issue lugs and silver for the upgrade?

Has he ever given an explanation?

So we have to send them in to get the good looking silver hardwear:p

I've sent a couple in to have them changed to silver, and have two micarta's that came with the silver.
I don't like the blue myself, but I think most do.

It adds a little bit of color to a bland grey/silver knife. I like it! No doubt I like the silver hardware, too. Damn it I like everything they put out...

are the "silver" studs still titanium (?) or a different material?
if they are the same, they're just UNanodized right?

Still titanium..just not anodized.

Technically, I guess the real upgrade is to gold ano, which is what's used on the higher-end inlay models. What models get silver/plain lugs, other than the Micarta inlays?

Has anyone here had any issues with the blue anodizing rubbing off while cutting things like cardboard, or
other abrasive materials..?

Yes. Heck, just being rubbed by thumbs will thin out and eventually wear off the ano layer.

Isn't that when you pull out the old torch and just hit it a few passes to get the blue to "pop" again? :D

I guess you can always get a new silver
Lug put in when it's time for the spa
Treatment..Or maybe a gold lug and
Back spacer. I wonder if they would
Put in gold hardware on a costumer
Request.?

Blue collar - White collar - could also be an explanation.
OTOH my micarta inlay Sebenza has a silver stud.

@CZIV: I want to see: ... you bluening the stud with that torch.... :)

Just curious -- for those who have sent their folders in for double lugs, did you get a second blue or pop for two silver?

And why?

Send me your Sebenza and I'll make a YouTube video of the procedure! :p :D

It wears off pretty quick. My seb came as a really strong blue that is now worn off for the most part. Still some blue but mostly just in the little grooves. My knife is also all scratched up anyways, so it doesnt really matter so much. Fits in with the rest of the package :D
