Why buy a Sebanza when customs cost the same?

Sorry to miss this excellent thread (IMHO the most interesting issue I seen so far here).

I am having the same dilemas myself right now.

If I am going to use it I will definitely go for the Sabenza.

If I buy it for collecting purposes: PAT CRAWFORD Point Guard is my choice. I agree that it is not reasonable to charge $325 for a semi-custom folder but in the Sabenza case I understand it, as it features a high quality blade material BG-42 , quite rare to find at the $300 custom makers price range.

I still haven't made up my mind between the Sabenza and the Crawdford Point Guard.

It is my harder decision yet in my knife purchasing history

Hello to all,

I was kind of hoping this thread would go away!

Since I started it I'd like to say what I've learned over the last 6 weeks.

For starters, I did buy a small Sebanza. I must say it is an awesome knife. I have carried it daily and used it lightly. I like it so much that I ordered the large one on Friday.

I also bought a Kit Carson model 16 with a 3.5 inch blade from Les. I am really impressed with that knife too.

My conclusion is that it's quality that counts.

Aloha,

Dave

AG,

If you buy a Point Guard expecting it to appreciate, you will be disappointed.

Very nice piece. Not collectible.

So buy the one you like the best and be happy with it.

Yeah I'm crazy, but what do you want me to do about it

Regardless of if the sebenza is a true custom or semi-custom to me is irrevelant.I have owned alot of customs in the past(elishwitz, crawford, terzoula.lightfoot,
emerson, carson on order and alot i can't think of at the moment)and about 1/2 of them i have gotten rid of in the past. The sebenza is the only one that i have never considered selling and don't think i ever will.

Glad you finally chose what to buy...Ok, the Sebenza's cool, but I use my BM-710BT daily and it was only a hundred bucks, and I would NOT be without it. If it lasts as long as I think it will, then Benchmade's proved to me at least, that "production" doesn't always equate to poorly made....
