Here is a video I just finished where I used my Benchmade. The video is actually on why we should buy fine knives. I hate the question, "Why would you want to spend $200 on a knife?" Now I'll just link those people here. :)

I need him to come over to my house!---- I'll let him explain why I needed another Benchmade!!! :-) Just got an orange handle full sized Grip on the way!!!she just got a registered Aussie pup so she is still ahead! HaHa!

Oh wait!!!!!--- I forgot about the other 4 Benchmades the last 3 months!!! :-0 better show her this!

Like everything else, there's still a limit as far as I'm concerned. You get to a certain price-point where you have overpaid for whatever value you think is there.

I think there are diminishing returns (however you spell it) at some point. You get beyond $300-400 and you are paying a lot for small improvements.

I think you reach that point earlier than that. :) I have $400 CRK and Strider knives that I willingly paid the price for, but there's honestly no way that they're 2x as good as most $200 Spyderco knives. I'm OK with that, and I spend my money with my eyes wide open.

Thanks. You said it better than I was able to.

Shooooot. You should try justifying a Loveless purchase to someone. All in all, life is short, and to Derrick's point, I agree that as long as you're not causing undue hardship to yourself or loved ones, you should surround yourself with quality gear that will not fail you and can be passed down.

By the way, it's great to see Derrick posting here! :)

I come by infrequently because I just get hijacked on my way. I will try to get here more often. Benchmade knives are my favorite modern folder. Period. I need to come talk to similar folks!

With all the knives that you handle/have access to on a daily basis, I think that's really saying something. I'm personally back where I started, with BM knives, having carried CRK and some others during a 10yr hiatus.

Come on by and chat with us anytime, Sir!

Will do. I should say, CRK knives are hard to beat. Benchmade just seems to me to be a lot of bang for your buck and innovative designs too. I can't say enough good stuff about the axis lock.

I would agree wholeheartedly, and I'll always have a special place in my heart for CRK's in particular. I've got a small annual tigerwood wood inlay with ladder stainless Damascus that is hands-down one of the most beautiful knives I've ever owned.

What I like about the Axis models I carry and use everyday is that I don't even think about lock wear, early vs. late lockup, or scratching finishes, etc. I love the Axis as much or more now than I did at it's first appearances on BM knives in '99.

Here's a pic or four. The BM49SPL pic is thrown in for good measure, to show that BM is capable of extreme beauty also. :)

Okbohn, your video got me so pumped up, I feel like I need to buy another fine knife!

...It could also have been that I was watching the video with first sips of morning coffee -but whatever it was, i had to immediately go to the other room and grab a Benchmade to flick before responding here. Fine knives rule

Thanks for the feedback! That is exactly what I wanted--but in general, I am trying to influence people who really don't know what a good knife is. But HEY, if it pumps the rest of us up that is just extra good!
