Why Can't I Use My First CRK?

I had the same issue with my large Insingo. I was not convinced that I would keep it so I never really used it thinking I would preserve the value. After I warmed up to the Insingo blade shape it became the knife that I use and beat the hell out of every day. The real beauty of a plain Sebanza comes only with use and wear.

I convinced myself that I going to keep it. I will have to ease into using it but I do want to get some battle scars on it. I will have to rotate the carry of this one in with my small micarta Seb. Considering sending it in for double lugs (Double lugs are something I considered useless until I actually owned one - now I can't do without LOL!).

They are great users. I respect collectors, and understand that idea, but can't help but feel you are missing out a little if you don't use these blades as intended.

My two bits:

- An expensive knife sitting in a glass case will always seem "expensive" for what it is.
- An expensive knife you use daily will seem worth every penny you paid for it.

For example, if you use your Sebenza daily for 5 years, it only cost you 20 cents a day to own it! I definitely got 20 cents of pleasure out of using by Sebenza today.

What you need to do, is "accidently" drop it on a tile floor. Then it wil have a scratch or 2, and you can go about using the knife. I was in a similar boat with my first. I was admiring her and really did accidently dop her on a tile floor. I had no problem using the knife after that.

I'm seriously considering this, my sebbie rides in it's slipsheath and never gets any snailtrails unless I drop it, witch I never do...

But then again that would be cheating and I also have no problem using mine like the OP. I guess I just really like the looks of a well used PJ sebbie..

I had a small Seb with inlays, and I just couldn't bring myself to use it. It was so nice and polished. I sold it, and bought a small plain Jane and as soon as it came I started using it from day 1. Great little knife, and I'm not afraid to use it at all.

Well I am committed to using it now. It's been unseasonably cooler here, so today was the first day I wore shorts this Spring. I decided the small Seb might be a better EDC for for shorts, so I swapped out the lanyard. (Which meant disassembly and reassembly.) I think I am going to send it in for silver hardware including double studs to match my large plain Jane.

Here it is with my current EDC:
